John Mortenson would be great, it'd fit right in with Brother Ray Deadly and EV2.0. Would they just make him John Hennigan? What's the deal with TNA and the names anyway? Austin Aries is in as that but Zema Ion had to change his. I don't think he could legally be Johnny Raw so maybe Johnny Impact. Or Johnny Xplosion, which kind of rules.
This week's Observer says the idea of Morrison & Melina in TNA is something Bruce Prichard really wants, but Morrison has back and neck problems so the expectation is he'll rest up for a while. Although that was the expectation for Kurt Angle and Christian and Jeff Hardy too.
Melina or no Melina, I don't think Morrison's tale is all that different from that of Carlito or Shelton Benjamin (his staunch IC title rivals in 2006!) or MVP as far as guys they were up and down and up and down with until they eventually got fed up. All but Shelton left of their own accord. It's a credit to the Ziggler/Kofi/Swagger crew that they haven't had their spirit broken despite all basically being in close to the same spot wrestling each other since 2009, at different times all thinking they'd gotten the big break they were waiting for just to fall back to what they'd been doing. But Morrison had a few years on them of going through the same routine. (Although coming back from a serious injury way early doesn't really sound like something a guy who'd stopped caring would do.)
Now see, because I would have thought they'd stick with the Jim Morrison motif, I'd think they'd create a combination of the "John Morrison" name and "Mr. Mojo Risin'" nickname and turn him into Johnny Mojo. Not great, I'll grant you, but it at least lets him keep the essence of his old character.
All in all, Morrison's been in WWE since 2002. He had a near ten-year run with the company, made six figures for probably all but two of those years, traveled the world, and got to share his girlfriend with someone who knows Manny Pacquiao. It was not a bad run. Nor is it out of the question that he could come back someday. Who would have thought Jeff Hardy woulda come back after being fired for not doing a drug test, and then a few years later be the biggest star in the company? Of course, you kind of have to end the story there for it to be a useful analogy, but you see my point. Erm. At least I think you do.
Nor is it out of the question that he could come back someday.
At some point in the next few months, Morrison is going to get a nice check for appearing on Survivor Series and a really nice check for appearing in WWE '12. Those checks alone are going to be competitive with anything TNA or anyone else is going to offer full time.
If $$$ was Morrison's only concern, he wouldn't have left, but they'll be very convincing reminders of what he's leaving behind.

This all came to mind because Meltzer was talking about it last night on his podcast. The impression I got is it's a flat rate unless you're on the cover - it's a big deal for guys near the bottom but not as much for top guys, which seems to mean they're getting the same amount.
Two years ago, Meltzer said guys got $40K for being in the game, and this year's game is selling much faster.

I doubt it. But it reaffirms my belief that Morrison will be back someday. As has been mentioned before, those WWE paychecks will start to look pretty sweet compared to the meager offerings from TNA and the indies.
And wouldn't you know it? Miz did his buddy one last solid, because now Morrison has an open invitation to return to a main event-level revenge angle.
Wait, so Zack Ryder isn't allowed to have Morrison around his internet show that is independent from the WWE yet CM Punk is allowed to be seen with Scotty Goldman on Twitter while he isn't employed by the WWE any more either?
Who said that Zack Ryder isn't allowed to have Morrison on his internet show? He was all over the show this week, though it was old footage.
I'd say the bigger thing that will be keeping Morrison off the show going forward is that they aren't going to be travelling together anymore. As long as he doesn't sign with TNA, though, you never know if he'll pop back in and make a cameo somewhere down the line when it works for both of them.
Talk on Twitter shouldn't matter. JR was still talking about Morrison's departure on Twitter yesterday. And Tyler Reks' new internet cartoon (Mid-Card Mafia) has a Colt Cabana reference in it. I think you're reading too much into things!

Although I'd be all in for a future episode featuring Zombie Morrison.

Tyler Reks has an INTERNET CARTOON? And hey, it's not half bad, either! All he really has to do is clean up the audio kinks and it's solid stuff! At the very least, he'll have a decent future when he's future endeavored.
So I came into this show with kind of really positive feelings toward TNA. The previous episode delivered two fun matches and a fun Nash/Alex Shelley segment. Plus I went to the Edison, NJ ROH show this weekend.
