Or having their civil rights here in the states stripped away that makes it mind blowing. But then again Kentucky votes republican on a regular basis.
BTW, the National Islamic Coalition has switched its stance from 4 years ago and now supports Kerry over Bush. Although they have qualified their statement saying they would like Kerry to work with the Muslim community more. | Grimis

I though Islam meant "submit to God" or something.

The civil rights of Muslims and Muslim groups are being trampled under the Patriot Act (all of our civil rights are being trampled, but the Muslims are being singled out). Searches of homes and Mosques without any justification. Ilegal Arab imigrants being held for months on end, many in solitary confinement, with no charges being filed. The law allows for them to be imediatly deported for overstaying their visa, but now they are all being treated as terrorists due to their religion.
So Bush may have "liberated" two Muslim nations, but here at home his administration has done a bang up job alienating Muslim-Americans.
So for Muslims to support Bush and these tactics is akin (IMO) to the State of Kansas historically supporting Republicans despite so many being at or under the poverty line. Once again IMO, it doesn't make any sense.

Prove it. Prove all of it. If this were happening, the Democrats would be screaming bloody murder. Originally posted by brick The law allows for them to be imediatly deported for overstaying their visa

Oh, I'm sorry, its not covered in the Drudge report so its not true?
Muslims being held in Brooklyn for visa violations being abused: http://www.amuslimvoice.org/html/body_brooklyn_prison.html and the story of one man held there for 3 months http://kennebecjournal.mainetoday.com/news/local/787220.shtml
A man is accused of trying to help al-Qaida, has been arrested and held without any charges, http://www.amuslimvoice.org/html/body_sacramanto_bee_2-25-4.html How about we extend amnisty to those who have over stayed their visa's, but only if they are latino's or mexicans in key voting states, because if you are from a middle eastern country you must be a terrorist http://www.amuslimvoice.org/html/body_muslims_excluded.html http://www.amuslimvoice.org/html/body_german_documentary1.html

Did I say I had a problem with them being deported? No I have a problem with being held for months on end, with no charges being filed, in solitary confinement, and then being deported.
As for Democrats screaming bloody murder, why would they. Muslim American's are a small voting block who have gone republican in the past. Democrats helped push the Patriot Act through. Democrats are trying to prove they are tough on terrorism. The issue doesn't get any mainstream media coverage so its not an important one to either party. Its easier to let this one slide through the cracks. But to claim it doesn't exist...YIKES. |
