The question: Will the Raiders sign an additional place kicker for the Super Bowl? The reason: Does anyone doubt that Janikowski is going to end up in a Mexican jail either Friday or Saturday night and might be unavailable to kick.

I was figuring on reading in the newspaper of him being found dead this morning. I may be a week off.

You know, after seeing Nedney get injured the other night, would it really be so wrong to waste a spot on your 53-man roster for an extra kicker, JUST IN CASE? I mean, some teams already keep a guy just for FGs and a guy just for kickoffs.

Even if they did have another kicker on the 53, they probably would leave them off the game day 45, which means the kicker injured during the game probably couldn't be replaced anyway.
As for Nedney:
1) Almost poetic justice after the 'I'll be an actor on the side' comments the week before.
2) Hentrich was a good place kicker at Notre Dame, so it wasn't like the Titans were left with a backup QB placekicking.

Wait, wait. *Craig* Hentrich? The Titans would have been screwed. He kicked for the Packers that year that Chris Jacke got hurt. He's got a strong enough leg, but he's got absolutely no accuracy. He's like John Hall. He can make one from 50, and miss one from 20.

1995 - Hentrich kicked in 3 games for the Packers. He made all 5 of his PATs, and was 3 of 5 on Field Goals. His FG attempts (in order) were good from 32, good from 38, missed from 38, missed from 47, good from 49.

I didn't recall him kicking that much for us.

I am sorry. My memory must be faulty. At the time, I seem to recall him missing some easier ones. But you have the info, so I must be wrong. Disregard the previous letter. Pretend it never happened.

All Time Super Bowl Most Valuable Lunatics

Offense: QB Jim McMahon, Chicago in New Orleans for Super Bowl XX
Defense: CB Eugene Robinson, Atlanta in Miami for Super Bowl XXIII

and know we are projecting Sebastian Janikowski to represent Special Teams this year.

Waiting for the time when I can finally say that this has all been wonderful but now I'm on my way

Wow. Someone got HURT today. Although the more impressive performances (based solely on numbers, not on level of competition) were by two QB's, one of whom plays on Kentucky (forgot the other). Five TD's each... on only 10 completions.
