One of the ad reps just told me about this. I've already tipped off the relevant co-workers... hopefully this isn't as it sounds (although it probably is).
I wonder if there's a work around with having a "suggested donation" or something instead of selling used items. I'm all for safety but I think issuing a list of "likely or suspect" items for such stores to pull off of shelves would have been better. Even the swab kits (around $6-$8 for two swabs) don't tell you the amount of lead like the law requires.
Education about items that may be hazardous (I never thought about the fake pearl stuff for example) is much more useful than an outright ban.

As dangerous as toys are, it's a damned miracle any of us are walking around. Either that, or, considering the first things I noticed on either link in this thread are links to stuff you can buy, somebody stands to make a healthy profit off of paranoia spreading like wildfire as opposed to knowledge that actually takes time to soak in.
