The short link takes you to Impact Wrestling's reprint of Spike's press release (impactwrestling.com): TNA’S IMPACT WRESTLING CELEBRATES SUMMER 2012 BY GOING LIVE!
SPIKE TV TAKES HIGHLY RATED SHOW LIVE AND TO 8:00PM/ET BEGINNING THURSDAY, MAY 31st NASHVILLE, TN - (May 17, 2012) -- TNA IMPACT WRESTLING President Dixie Carter and SPIKE TV President Kevin Kay announce today that the highly-rated “IMPACT WRESTLING” will be going Live! from Universal Studios beginning May 31st and continue through the summer. This announcement coincides with the recently announced new, one-hour earlier time slot change of 8:00-10:00pm/ET every Thursday night beginning May 31st. “We are excited to take IMPACT WRESTLING Live! all summer long, and have our first Live! summer show launch our new 8:00pm/ET time slot,” says TNA President Dixie Carter. “Summer of 2012 is going to be remembered as the most momentous time in our company's history-to-date. Stay tuned."
This decision is....well, not necessarily BAD - certainly interesting. Don't know if it will have any effect positive OR negative, but might as well try it the exact same time as the timeslot change so if it DOES succeed or fail, you won't know what to blame or credit.

Now they can't hide they type of reactions Garrett Bischoff really gets. I don't think it's a bad move, butI don't think it will have any effect on the ratings. They would be better off just going on the road every week over going live in the Impactzone. | lotjx

It might also lead to them weeding out those who cannot cut live. The bad part is I have no idea how they plan to do this when the fall hits and all the big shows are back.

Meltzer mentions all the time about how spoilers being out there hardly ever effect the ratings of not just TNA but any show. Plus, if something really good happens (like a good match or angle), theoretically, it should get MORE people to tune in to see it play out.

Isn't Tony S. spoiling Mankind's first WWF title win kind of famous as an example of how spoilers can boost ratings? I believe a ton of people switched over as soon as he announced that as they were going into commercials. | hansen9j

It only showed how people wanted to watch better TV with a happy moment. If spoilers boosted ratings, people would have already been watching Raw.

I know it's Florida, but are they only able to make the move because the amusement park stays open later in the summer?
No idea how they keep a live crowd from burying Brooke.

'Can' boost ratings doesn't mean that they always will boost ratings. At the end of the day though, being on tape as opposed to live has never really hurt a show's ratings.
As far as Brooke Hogan being in charge of the Knockouts Division, thank God! It's about time someone with the expertise of Brooke came in to teach people like Mickie James, Tara, and Gail Kim how to be wrestlers. | ekedolphin

I guess they felt since they hired Bischoff's son they would be fair and sign Hogans kid.
The irony here is that I thought Nick wanted to be a wrestler. Or at least he did for a few weeks.

| #15 Posted on 18.5.12 0735.12 | Instant Rating: 5.57 | I'm struggling to see how they can book Brooke as anything other than a heel. Or at all, really. I mean, she would work if Bischoff was still in power - he could hire her as his heel KO's co-ordinator, sort of a "you took my son, I'll take your daughter" type thing. But how on Earth do you make the figurehead's non-wrestler daughter the authority figure of the trained, talented women's division and expect her to not get booed?
Also: Dixie needs to find someone to vet her press releases so she doesn't sound like such an easy mark. Unbelievable the obsequious gushing she does about a failed singer and D-list reality star. | lotjx

Guys like the Guns, Doug Williams, Mickie, Tara, Sarita, Pope, whoever is left in the X Division, etc. sitting at home while Garett gets a push is annoying. Them sitting at home while Garett and Brooke get TV time is going to be incredibly frustrating.
