This show is live tomorrow, as I didn't have time to pre-produce it tonight. The podcast will be uploaded at some point tomorrow, depending on how the day goes.
So I really wanted to do an Election Day show, but we had a little incident in Santa Barbara that sucked the remaining energy I had right out of me. My better half and I were at a wedding in San Diego last weekend (our fourth wedding in two months, and the third wedding San Diego). We drove back Sunday night, arriving home at about 10:30pm.
I left for work at about 8:20am, and all streets leading to work were backed up, as there was a gunman on a freeway overpass. Police stopped traffic on the 101 FWY entirely, forcing those of us who were fortunate enough to not have gotten on the freeway before 8:15am to stay on side streets. This turned my 10-15 minute commute into an hour and 45 minute commute. During the first hour, I would have made better time walking.
I got lucky, as I know people who got stuck on the 101 FWY for almost three hours. So, yeah, all around it was a great morning.
For those wondering, the gunman was an Iraqi War veteran who apparently had some kind of mental breakdown, and it appears his gun wasn't loaded and no one was harmed.
Here's the Times review. Funny, I can't tell if he liked it or not: Click Here (nytimes.com) DISCLAIMER: I picked it up from Google, so it might work...or it might still want you to register. Good luck!
