Hey, that's what the "Dial-up mode" option in your preferences is for. You can be logged in, and still get that look!
I know what you mean. I get sick of the background pictures and fonts sometimes. Thats why we made this feature!
It's also faster on any connection, not just dial-up.
//edit: Actually, it doesn't fix the fonts back to normal. I'd have to strip the text for the HTML stuff, and that would be a pain. So - inline pictures (in the main post) and font changes and color changes in the post will still be there.
Fortunately, most people put this stuff in their header and footer where it's easy to leave out.

I love it when a plan comes together
I came on the board today, and I wasn't logged in. It was kinda nice to read, because it was much quicker and I was short on time. Later in the day I logged on and the nice mellow blue background turned into a horrid eye sore red.
I'm not entirely bored of it yet. I'm still thinking of adding a skinning feature to the board... it is something that was added to the ACMLM code on his board after I got the original code - but we are so diverged from it now that its almost a different product.
I've made a ton of database changes that probably match changes he's made on his board (we both now offer a signature / header off feature) so I can't just port over stuff that has been done over there.
So.......... yeah. I may get to adding a "choose your colors" option at some point.
As per tradition, I see we all have Tibetan flags today. Per Wikipedia, March 28 is the date the People's Republic of China dissolved the government of Tibet (or from the PRC's perspective, "emancipated the serfs of Tibet").
