Let's not compare No Arm letting a ball roll through his legs in May to Buckner in October. I mean, Buckner at least had a good offensive season prior to that point, while No Arm is hitting a buck fifty with runners in scoring position. A quick overview of the season: Bullpen: I'd say hideous, but that would be an improvement. Starters: Outside of Martinez, inconsistent would be kind, and Lowe is showing his Stan Belinda-ish tendency of bad year following good. Perhaps Josh Hancock could help the rotation. Oh wait, the boy blunder of a GM traded him for Jeremy Giambi and his buck twenty five batting average. I've said since the ownership change that this ownership cabal would destroy the Red Sox, and they have done nothing to cause me to change the opinion. Henry was a joke with the Marlins, Werner destroyed the Padres in the early 90's, Lucchiano is a clown, and the boy blunder GM helped the Padres the last few years achieve those sub .500 records. At least when Dan Duquette was running the team, there was the illusion that the team could contend. And we would spend more days in first place, more days in first place, more days in first place.
edit: Imagine how foul a mood I'd be in if this team wasn't 8 games over .500 when I wrote this.
(edited by redsoxnation on 6.5.03 2012) I hate Swamprats. Payback for the Celts against the team led by a wifebeater/child abuser (he did break his kids collarbone in public). And 12 wins until Banner #17.
The title doesn't fit. I was hoping for a good discussion of how and why the mets have disappointed this year (and all of your reasons are completely valid), not debate over the world's most futile team, the Red Sox.
