Seems like a fairly worthy winner...

Also, looking at the list of candidates, BONO was up for this award? Wow.

"When this bogus term alternative rock was being thrown at every '70s retro rehash folk group, we were challenging people to new sonic ideas. If some little snotty anarchist with an Apple Mac and an attitude thinks he invented dance music and the big rock group is coming into his territory, [that's] ridiculous." - Bono, 1997

Funny how the guy who lives elsewhere calls it an embarassment, whereas I, who have lived my entire life in the state of Illinois, have never been prouder of my state or its governor than when Ryan commuted all the death sentences. I was hoping he would get the Nobel this year, but I have no quarrel with the woman who did receive it.

Ditto... I thought it was perfectly reasonable thing to do, regardless of whether your for or against the death penalty. If you've lost all faith in the process, you sure as hell don't continue to exectue people. And a Republican Governor, no less....

First, a little historical background…in the late 1970s, oil prices rose by over 120% in less than a year, and in the early 1970s, oil prices rose by around 300% in less than a year, so a 40% increase is not nearly as dramatic as the earlier episodes.
