Q'n'D
-Jeff Hardy d. Samoa Joe with a crucifix pin to advance to the BFG series finals.
-Bully Ray d. James Storm after a Bobby Roode Greco-Roman beer bottle to the head to advance to the BFG series finals.
-Miss Tessmacher d. Tara with a victory roll to retain the TNA Knockouts Championship.
-Austin Aries v. ??? went to a No Contest after a brawl broke out between the TNA roster and the Aces & Eights. Post-match (?) saw the A&E take out Jeff Hardy's shoulder, leaving his status for the main event in doubt.
-Zema Ion d. Sonjay Dutt with the Gory drop to retain the X Division Championship.
-Rob Van Dam d. Magnus with the Five-Star Frog Splash.
-Christopher Daniels & Kazarian d. AJ Styles & Kurt Angle with the APPLETINI~! to the face to retain the TNA Tag Team Championships.
-Jeff Hardy d. Bully Ray with the Swanton Bomb to win the Bound For Glory series.

-------------------

Took a while to catch up with this after the Steelers/Broncos game, but here's what we got.

Jeff Hardy beat Samoa Joe after a keen series of reversals saw Jeff come out on top. It was actually a nice play on the Joe/Magnus ending from a few weeks ago, this time with Joe ending up on the wrong end of the pin. Joe teased bad things post-match, but gave Jeff the thumbs up and walked away peacefully.

Bully Ray beat James Storm in one of the few BFG series matches to feature a ref bump. Bobby Roode's arrival was a neat surprise and it looks like the Storm/Roode feud is going to conclude at BFG without the title involved.

Tessmacher and Tara was alright, as Tess came out on the winning end of a fluke roll-up. Tara's teasing a heel turn and it's looking like it'll come this Thursday.

Austin Aries facing the Aces & Eights guy was...weird. No ref, no bell, and everyone in street clothes, so it didn't feel like an actual match. Aries didn't get as much offense as you'd think, aside from a bag of powder and a roll of coins. He almost made up for it with a stiff-looking brainbuster to put the armbreaker out of his misery. Aries went for the mask, but that led to yet another schmozz between the roster and the Aces & Eights. The Aces took out Jeff Hardy's shoulder until Bully Ray (!) made the save. We STILL don't know anything about the A&E and who they are, but now more signs are pointing to Bully Ray being the guy.

Zema Ion retained the X title over Sonjay Dutt. Dutt ran circles around Ion and it didn't look like Ion could keep up. Ion won after catching Dutt with the Gory drop. I know they're building up to Sorenson, but I really wish they had pulled the trigger on Dutt here.

Rob Van Dam beat Magnus clean with the Five-Star Frog Splash. Magnus had counters ready for most of RVD's offense, but he couldn't fight off Van Dam's kicks and fell prey to the frog splash. Decent stuff.

The World Tag Team Champions of the World retained their titles over AJ Styles and Kurt Angle. Kurt worked this match heavily banged up and STILL managed to put on a clinic, suplexing the shit out of everyone after the hot tag and even nailing a top-rope splash (!) off a second hot tag. He then topped himself with a POP-UP ANGLE SLAM to counter a Kaz moonsault! Finishing sequence was incredibly hot! AJ's springboard 450 splash got 2! Kaz busted out the FLUX CAPACITOR and only got 2! Styles tried to finish Kaz with the Styles Clash, but Daniels used the deadliest of all finishers: the APPLETINI~! TO THE FACE!!! Devastated by the greatest of all moves, the Kaz roll-up into a pin was academic. Great, great, GREAT match and major props to Kurt for nearly killing himself for our entertainment!

Jeff Hardy beat Bully Ray with the Swanton Bomb to win the BFG Series. Pre-match, Hulk Hogan noted that Jeff wasn't ready to compete and asked Ray to postpone the match until Thursday. Ray never got to answer, as Jeff came out and worked the match. Ray worked the bad arm throughout the match. Twist of Fate and Swanton only got 2 for Jeff. Bully Cutter got 2 for Ray. Jeff tried to polish Ray off with two more Twists of Fate, but that led to a battle on the top rope. Jeff won the exchange and polished off Ray with a second Swanton for the pin. The match was fine, but the result felt anti-climactic.

And so where are we now? Well, we still don't know who anyone from the Aces & Eights are, which is aggravating for anyone that bought this show hoping for a payoff. The BFG main event looks to be Aries/Hardy, which I don't think anyone was really too keen on seeing. I don't doubt it'll be a good match, but I was a lot more pumped for Aries/Joe, Aries/Ray, or Aries/Storm. The rest of the card contained decent-to-good matches without any real clunkers, aside from the Aries match (and who knew those words could be uttered?). Wrestling-wise, it's a solid PPV. Angle-wise, it left a little to be desired.

Until next time!

Feel like they shit the bed on this one booking-wise. Hardy is the least interesting option out of the four finalists, and the Roode/Storm angle has just been continually backburnered to the point where it feels like just another midcard feud.

I think Ray is in league with Aces * Eights, but he's not the big boss.

The problem for TNA is the same problem WWE runs in with Cena, Hardy is their merchandise guy. Its the guy people will spend money to see. Well, I do agree I would have rather seen anyone else in that spot, financially it makes sense to put your top guy on your top PPV and internet be damned. Its been the marketing directive of the E for the last seven years. Personally, Joe/Aries was an instant buy for me, this will be a toss up depending on what the NFL Sunday game will be and if I have the cash.

You can still go with Bully being the guy behind it with some logic that he thought he could take a beaten Hardy, but still lost. Aces and Eights could take out Jeff to have Bully be the guy to face Aries, but again you are taking your top merchandiser out of the main event which I don't see happening.

I hope Storm/Roode is a blood bath. I also hope they give Tara a run with the title as well as give someone for Ion to lose with. I was hoping they will do the big reveal of who is behind Aces and Eights since they have a month to go and I am not sure if they can book that long without issues. Still, even after tonight, I don't see too many flaws as most wrestling storylines go now a days.

This means Aries/Hardy for the belt, right? That's got potential.

I'm still betting Matt Hardy (and now maybe Jeff) are Aces & Eights.

Ugh, if they were gonna push Hardy as the guy to win the BFG series they could of at least built a better story around why he wants to win. Bully has re-built himself to be taken seriously as a solo main eventer, Storm took time off and returned to win the Heavyweight belt back (plus you have the main event feud with Roode ready to restart), and Joe was the biggest threat seeing as he's the killer bad ass he was from several years ago and was winning most of his points by submission.

I feel like Jeff just got the push because he's really over, but he wasn't the original plan. This does feel like how the WWE protects Cena in a way.

I really loved the Bully Ray/Storm match until the ending with the multiple ref bumps, Roode, and a beer bottle. Hebner takes a incredibly weak ref bump the second time, Roode comes out to whack Storm in the head with the bottle shattering it everywhere in the ring. Hebner regains consciousness just in time to LOOK AROUND FOR A SAFE SPOT AMONGST THE BROKEN GLASS TO SLAP THE MAT AND MAKE THE THREE COUNT. Why is Hebner involved with the most asinine match finishes in the company?

Tara's biker-leather thong piece deserves a mention. I try to remember what happened in the match and her butt is all I can recall so I'll just move on.

Sonjay reminded me of what the X-Division used to be. It was weird for Dutt to get such a strong reaction when he did anything but as soon as Ion takes the offensive he got a wall of silence. I blame this on lack of promotion for the match pre-No Surrender. Sonjay did run circles around Ion.

World Tag Team Champions of the World continue their stylish reign of terror!! Match of the fucking night! Kaz and Daniels start before the match with a killer promo involving Kazarian creating words which he apparently does often (It's a Trav-shama-mockery Borash). Then Angle (injured), Styles, Kaz, and Daniels work the living shit out of each other for about 20 minutes. Kazarian even breaks out the old Flux Capacitor finisher. This reminded me more of a Japanese wrestling match with the stiff slams from Angle and the multiple and rare finishers. Yet nothing is more lethal than an Appletini to the eye, which I marked out and couldn't stop laughing at. Daniels even toasted his glass on the camera and Tag belts.

Jeff Hardy is the most over wrestler in the company and I am sure he sells a shit ton of merchandise for them, but he should not be in the World Title picture. He's not going to get anyone more or less over whether he has the belt or not, and as everyone pointed out he has the weakest storyline of the Final Four.

That being said he should have a belt, but it should be the Television Title. It's the old RVD in ECW trick. This way people always have a reason to fight him, there is always something on the line, he can keep it forever and the longer he holds it the bigger the matches seem and if he flakes out there is no real loss.

Plus I really wanted Bully Ray to win it all.

If Jeff is tied to Aces & Eights, Bully Ray, his looooongtime enemy, becomes a de facto face in opposing him. That's a nice way to switch allegiances, and Corporate Enigma Jeff made for a bad-ass bad guy. When he swantoned an opponent and rolled to his feet while straightening his tie? Fabulous.

Let Jeff go after the X-Title. Say that it he is an artist and that is the type of matches he likes to paint or some shit.

That's a forced double switch. People want to go bonkers for Hardy and boo the piss out of Ray. Both guys are perfectly suited for those roles. Why miscast them?

I'm pretty pumped about going 8/8 on my predictions this month.

Evil Jeffery Nero Hardy was a fantastic character whose time ended far too soon. I hope we get the personalized belt, purple suit, and spooky promos again.

I agree. I think there's a greater chance that Aries would turn than Hardy would down the road. I think this booking committee understands Hardy is the most over guy on the roster and sells more merch than anyone on the roster and they think putting him in the main event at TNA's biggest PPV will maximize buys. I expect there to be a lethal Lockdown match between team TNA and The Aces and Eights and for Bully Ray to be on team TNA and turn on them and be revealed as the leader of the Aces and Eights.

not entirely surprised by most of the results, but a few things did stand out that I was not expecting. The most significant of these being that James Storm did NOT win the Bound For Glory series. It makes sense now that I think about it, he and Roode have an easily created feud for the biggest show of the year and it is big enough of a deal that the World Championship does not need to be involved. That frees Aries up for his challenger, Jeff Hardy. The decision to have Hardy win the series had me scratching my head a little, but Hardy VS Aries should be a match worth looking forward to at least. It will be better for Aries to face a big name like Hardy so if he is going to remain World Champion going into Bound For Glory then the decision does make sense. Storm HAS to face Roode and unless Roode somehow manages to regain the world title, they are better off settling their issue in a non-title match.

Hardy defeating Samoa Joe came to no surprise. Tessmacher and Ion retaining were obvious choices as well. I would have saved Aries VS The Armbreaker for either last or next to last, that should not have been in the middle of the card. The X Division title match should have opened or perhaps gone on second. The best match of the night by far was the Tag Team Championship match and I had a feeling going in that it would be great. Styles and Angle deserved the win though, AJ needs revenge after the whole Claire storyline. It also felt weird to not have an official World Championship match as part of the show. I'm glad Aries was still in action at least. An ok show, could have been better, could have been FAR worse.

Maybe spitting in Cena's face did him in? The main reason why I don't think it's a work is because Daniel Bryan is "not under WWE contract" in storyline. None of the NXT guys are except Wade Barrett.
