The Sidewinders (AAA) are practically being cannibalized while the bats are barely awake, need coffee mode. We usually struggle during interplay as it is. | #3 Posted on 6.6.03 1816.39 | The really frustrating thing this year is that we do get some hitting. But we seem to be fabulous at doing it at the most useless times. There are games where you look over at the scoreboard, & we have 3 times as many hits as the bad guys, & we're behind anyway. I'm pretty confident that we should be right in the running for Most Men Left Stranded On Base. Nobody's hitting consistently, & most of the guys are "swinging for the pool" as soon as we get a couple of guys on.
I find that the best way to think of it is : You never know what you're going to get at a Diamondbacks game! Maybe Kurt Schilling, maybe an A-ball pitcher! Maybe a shutout, maybe a rout! It's much more exciting than a couple of years ago when we were doing lots of winning. (*rolls eyes*) :-) | darkdragoon

Saying Paul Abbott was part of the Mariners 116 wins is kind of like saying Stacey King was part of 3 Bulls' Championship teams. He was THERE, but he had big-time run support that year and didn't really pitch like a 17-4 pitcher would normally have to pitch to get that good of a record.
If you're excited about Paul Abbott pitching for your team, then your team sucks.

Just rumors, same with the Philly homecoming or Atlanta stuff. He is a free agent. I think the whole "CURT SMASH PUNY QUESTEC!" and the like has really been blown out of proportion--if he's such a problem/loudmouth/whatever, why are other people interested? | -proletarian-

Nope, because Schilling's nickname out here is 'the big hoss.' Traber cracked me up with his 'Big Potato, oops I meant Big Daddy' for Valverde. We could probably use a guy like Stewart though, unless Bautista+McCracken+Delucci equals the numbers.
