I'll assume that I'm not the only one who's picked up this title ... The pre-order came in on Tuesday night, and so far it is looking (pardon my geekiness) SWEEEEEEEET!

Metroid needs to be played from a first-person perspective; I wasn't sold on the idea when it was first announced, but now I can't imagine how the franchise could have been updated without it.

Oh, and for the record - I never could get into the Metroid game for the NES when I was a kid. I just got lost too easily, having no idea what I was supposed to do next; even when I was re-introduced to it in the age of emulators, I STILL didn't know what the hell I was doing.

Anyone else have any thoughts they'd like to share?

Hmmm...that's exactly what I liked about the first Metroid. The areas were so BIG that you actually could get lost in them. There weren't any clear-cut directions to any item and some of them were darn near impossible to find. It gave you a true sense of accomplishment to even FIND Kraid, Ridley and Mother Brain, much less to beat them.

I got Prime today and will play it in 2 hours and 15 minutes. Can't wait, I tell you. It's a dream come true. And another thing: I didn't buy the strategy guide and I refuse to get help from a walkthrough...I want to beat this one old-school.

Now we need Zelda. THEN...we need...KID ICARUS.

Rygar is back, it's not Kid, but it brought back some memories

All the old school hero that are getting an update.
    Rygar (PS2)
    Defender (PS2)
Toe Jam and Earl III (X-box)
    Ninja Gaiden (X-box)
    Metroid Prime (GC)
    Rygar (PS2)
    Shinobi (PS2)
    Dragon's Lair 3D (X-box)

I may be missing a few, but after being disappointed in the cool looking Shinobi, I am really hyped for Ninja Gaiden. But alas, no Kid Icarus. And I am still waiting for a REAL Kirby GameCube game.

I don't know... I mean, I loved "Kid Icarus" when I was a kid, but seeing those heartless cheap bastard Eggplant Wizard cocksuckers rendered in full 3-D may be enough to send me over the edge. I still hate those dirty, dirty bastards. :)

In case anyone is interested (it looked fun to me) Defender is for all systems.

With poison running through your veins, and death marching solemnly towards you, heroic acts become more of a necessity as you see your time dwindling.

Vanquishing your enemies, making amends to those you have wronged, and leaving words of love and kindness for those around you become second nature as your own mortality looms

However, true strength lies not in these last desperate acts, but in the actions of one who has to get out of bed the next day and face the consequences of doing that which you believe is right.
