According to IGN, none of the legends have their original music, instead they're given the generic "orginal" themes. No "Money, Money, Money", no "Ohhhh...What a Rush!", no "Don't go messin' with a country boy". What the hell?? They own that music, why isn't it in the game? I was so looking forward to using "Money" as my theme!

Does Jimmy Hart own that music? If so, his split coincides with about the time that they were programing all that stuff (though I'm almost positive that Johnston wrote one of the later Undertaker themes, which was admittedly genaric to begin with).

I'm not going to miss it too terribly, but yeah, I'll wish it was in there.

Wisconsin Badgers: 6-2 (What a sever letdown. The fact that despite getting outclassed the whole game, we stayed in it gives me a glimmer of hope for the rest of the season.)

Minnesota Vikings: 6-0 (What a play, huh? Everybody on the team played well and we won, can't ask much more than that.)

It has nothing to do with Jimmy "annoying" Hart.

WW(F)E owns the music. Anyone ever hear the WWE Anthology CD's?

All the music you hear in the WWE is either owned by WWE ( written by Jim Johnson) or they have permission to use it ( Evolution, Triple H-Motorhead, Victoria-taTu, RVD-Breaking Point, Edge-Rob Zombie, Matt Hardy-Monster Magnet, etc)

There really is NO reason why THQ couldn't add the "legends" music. The legends used music that is owned by WWE, and also most of the themes they would have used are availble on WWE CD's currently (Anthology) or on the WW(F) CD set that came out in 1999, or even back im the day on cassette tapes.

The reasons they didnt use some current wrestlers music like the wrestlers mentioned above could be legal issues.

But then again last year RVD had the "One of a Kind" in SD!SYM if I remember correct(i'l cehck when i get home) So, maybe it's THQ being lazy.

THQ has the rights to use WWE properties in videogames, including music that has been approved for use in WWE programming. A note as well Shawn O'Haire is in SD!HCTP, and he has theme music and it's done by a outside band...i forget the name of. Figure that out.

They didnt use RVD's "One of a Kind", or Victoria's " All the Things...by taTu" music in Wrestlemania XIX for Gamecube, and Raw 2.

It's really annoying, the first thing I did for the crappy game of RAW 2 is make everyone have the correct theme music.

Now missing music is another story.. Why THQ uses Eddie's old Latino Heat music is beyond me.

THQ this is a major downfall in your efforts to bring the true WWE expierence to videogames. And while your at it, bring back the AKI game engine you buttheads.

You're wrong, because the WWE is only licensed to use the music on their TV programs and PPVs. That's why you will sometimes get DVDs with old or incorrect theme music. The WWE (or in this case, THQ) has to pay licensing fees to get the music for the game, just like any other company has to pay to license "name" music in any other game. In this case, apparently they couldn't secure deals with some of the artists to get the rights in time.

Yes, I have the anthology, and alot of the songs on there were composed by Jimmy Hart. At the time it was released, he was on fairly good terms with the WWE (he even did a segment on Confidential about the making of some of the Anthology songs), but now he's not, so if he's retained the rights to any of those songs, the WWE is SOL in using them.

Eddie and Chavo have the Latino Heat and lWo theme music respectively to seperate themselves as singles wrestlers. Their "Los Guererros" theme is in there as a stable theme, and you can change it if you want. Ric Flair's default theme is Motorhead's Evolution theme, but his 2001 theme is in there as well.

As for the AKI engine, I for one hated it. It discouraged pick-up-and-play gameplay. You spent more time getting acquainted with the grappling system (to do a body slam press in and HOLD the button) than you did playing the game, and any time somebody new to the game wanted to play against you, you had to explain the controls to them too. With the Smackdowns it's been X is punch, Circle and any direction is throw, L1 is your special, and you can figure the rest out. Very intuitive, very easy. This year's engine is very AKIish, but I'll reserve judgement until I play around with it.

I don't think Jimmy Hart can retain the rights to the songs he made for WWF since he made them as an employee for the WWF. He can be credited for creating the songs, but he does not own it as far as know. I believe WWE could have released Anthology without Hart's approval. Besides, Hart was responsible for making Shawn Michael's theme, and WWE always used his music without problems on TV and video games. The blame really lies with THQ or whoever is responsible for getting the correct entrance music.

I never did quite understand why Tajiri and the Hardy's theme songs were changed in the last game.

Still, the entrances are a really unimporant part of the game as a whole. I am curious about the whole Legends concept and how they can legally put people in the game that they don't currently employ.

Hopefully the game will play well enough to make me not want to look for some cheap AI exploit to, well, exploit and cheat my way to a DQ victory.

Their themes weren't in-house; they were semi-public, *licensed* commercial music. Someone who has more knowledge than me has explained this before, but I'm too lazy to find it for you. :)
