Predicted release time: between April 1st, 2006 and December 31st, 2006.
I'd probably guess around November, in time for the Christmas rush.
In the article, Satoru Itawa (president of Nintendo) states "It [the Revolution] would be a complete failure if we didn't sell more units than the Nintendo GameCube.". Also, the there have been almost 19,000,000 GC units shipped so far.
I haven't seen any predicted price ranges for the Revolution, for the peripherals, or for the games...so I'm not sure whether I'll get one or not...yet.
Early predictions are $200. Nintendo has pretty much said it's not going to be as powerful or cost quite as much as the other guys so that seems reasonable. I read this story too and wasn't sure why exactly it was news. I mean we knew it wasn't coming out any earlier than that, but that it would be next year so this pretty much just confirms that.
The REAL rumor news of this week is the speculation that Sony might possibly think about pushing back the PS3 to 2007. Now it's no one from Sony saying that, just an analyst saying it would be a smart business move IF the 360 doesn't sell like crazy, based on how much it's gonna cost Sony to produce those PS3's.
Personally from the talk I've seen I'm thinking the 360 is going to sell very, very well so Sony will take the loss to not fall too far behind in the next gen game. Nintendo is very smart in their strategy in my view.
An interview I read with them had them basically saying this: We know most of you will own more than one next gen system anyway. Sony and Microsoft are going to give you basically the same thing, so we're going to give you a very different alternative, that way we become the likely choice for your second system.
Exactly, wmatistic. Nintendo knows there will be people like me whose first choice will be the Revolution due to it's features (OS games, new controler which for hack'n'slash games like Gauntlet or Return of the King will OWN, ability to use GameCube controlers), but they also know that many will pick it up as a secondary console. Who wants to spend equally expensive money on two systems which may produce the same type of games when you can spend less money on a system where you know there will be quality games which'll be different than the others?
And besides, come on....you ALL (ALL OF YOU) know after you saw that new controler that whenever Zelda hits the Revolution it will own us all.

Sorry, but no matter how much I love Cryin' and Crazy, they are not the real classics. Having said that, I would have LOVED for them to be in there since the solos are amongst my favorites. Nope, true classic Aerosmith is from the 70s.
