- The SD Card Channel has launched and it will let you play Virtual Console games stored on SD cards. Sounds like you grab it from the Wii Shop Channel. Also, there's a system update that allows the Wii to support up to 32 GB SD cards. This is awesome news for anyone who loves Virtual Console games or Rock Band DLC.
- Rock and Roll Climber is a new rock-climbing videogame that involves the Wiimote, Nunchuck, and Balance Board to control your hands and feet.
- Two new Final Fantasy games are coming to WiiWare - "My Life as a Darklord" and "Final Fantasy IV: The After Years" which I gather was a cellphone game.
- Vintage Final Fantasy games will be on the Virtual Console starting sometime this year.
- Virtual Console Arcade will allow you to download old arcade games. Four are available now - Gaplus, Mappy, The Tower of Druaga, and Starforce. Space Harier, Solvalou, Emeraldia, and The Return of Ishtar are coming soon. Gaplus is 600 points and the other three that are out now are 500 each. I (heart) Mappy.
- Coming this year for the DS is The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks (working title). It sounds like it might be an on-rails shooter, oddly, but there aren't much in the way of details yet.

I just bought a bunch of 2 GB cards to keep my Rock Band and Guitar Hero DLC separate. This is awesome news, but it would have been slightly more awesome quite literally yesterday.

Originally posted by John Teti After the Miyamoto love, Iwata crapped on all the people making less money than Nintendo, i.e., everyone. He put up a bar chart comparing the sales of all the game consoles. The Wii bar was long (and girthy!), the Xbox bar was a lot smaller, and the PS3 bar was a little smaller than that. Iwata said, "But I can add another," and he put up a bar showing the installed base of the Wii Balance Board that comes with Wii Fit. And holy shit, it was practically as long as the PS3 bar. In other words, there are almost as many people who own a Wii accessory as there are people who own the PS3. Iwata should have just brought the president of Sony onstage and kicked him square in the groin; it would have been less painful for all involved.

The former will yield higher numbers than the latter.

Check that - you can use SDHC cards for your Virtual Console games and Wii Channels. You CANNOT, however, use it to store stuff from existing games, like Rock Band downloads or Animal Crossing pictures. And I'm guessing that if I put MP3s on my SDHC card, Excite Truck won't find them. Older games only support SD cards, not SDHC. Future versions of Guitar Hero and Rock Band and whatever else will most likely support SDHC.
