A teaser trailer is now up for the all-CG Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie coming out in 2007.

I knew there was a CG Turtles movie coming, but I hadn't heard much about it. Now I'm totally psyched for it. It looks awesome.

This will either totally relauch this concept or send it straight to back toybin. I fan of the orginal series, the movies, and now this look quite great. It was all serious...Mikey screws it up. How great was that...yes. This might be on the must see list next spring.

I had serious doubts about CGI Turtles, but actually seeing them in action put a lot of those doubts to rest. And for as much of a fan of the old movies as I was, they were very cheesy in retrospect (especially the sequels). I'll give this one a go.

Count me in. My two oldest kids love the original movies (I and II) and the animated series. I will definatley take them to see this. It looks better than the oriignals and should re-start the series and merchandising.

Wow, that is graphic.

So, the whole movie is in CG, with no human actors? That's a might disappointing.

But on the plus side, it opens on my birthday!

As opposed to the cartoon and toyline that came back in 2003 and has been doing pretty good?

It's a series of tubes.

The new series is pretty successful and has run quite a while for a Saturday morning action cartoon. It's also more faithful to the comics than the original series.

FYI,

At Comic Con, director Kevin Munroe showed the teaser trailer and a reel of footage as well which was awesome. It featured voice over by none other than the late MAKO as Splinter that was freaking fantastic.

We got a look at a lot of the villains. No Shredder. Casey Jones, April, etc.

Munroe says that this new feature will share continuity with the old movies. It will reference them and won't deny that the third one happened.

IMDB says Quinton Flynn is playing Casey Jones. Munroe would not say who's playing the turtles but did say its not the current VA's for the new series.

There was a cute little bit in the reel in which Michelangelo wearing a giant turtle head is pummeled by little kids at a birthday party.

That's a daring move, considering that it'll rely on fans to actually REMEMBER the first three movies. And while it might have worked for Superman, I don't see that working out so well for the Turtles. I personally think it would be better to just start off fresh, like Batman.

Disagree wholeheartedly. You're depending on a generation where nostalgia is force-fed 24/7 on television stations to remember a key part of their childhood? Not too big of a stretch for me to believe that people still remember Super Shredder and the Ninja Rap, whereas you'd be hardpressed to find people with lingering emotion towards Richard Pryor teaming up with the Man of Steel.

I doubt they are going to be slavish to the old movies. But Munroe described it as a rebirth and re-introduction to the turtles.

I like the idea of a pre-existing history rather than a fresh origin story from scratch.

I mean look at it like this, do we really need to spend 45-minutes to an hour recounting their origin and telling a TMNT: YEAR ONE type of story?

The first movie basically already did that and they recounted the origin in like 2 minutes later on in a flashback.

Even the newer series which is pretty popular and has been on for quite a while didn't start totally from scratch. It didn't start with the turtles when they were baby turtles in a turtle farm and swam around in a cannister of ooze.

Somehow I think my hopes for a Howard the Duck cameo will be dashed.
