|  #1 Posted on 27.12.02 0948.25 | The idiotic news story of the year comes through just under the wire: Cult in Florida (did anyone doubt the location for this one) claims to have cloned a baby. Now, despite not having any proof except their word (this is a group whose founder was a race car driver who met aliens, who told him that aliens placed the human race on earth) the cable networks give the news conference full coverage. Still trying to figure out who is dumber, this cult, or the networks for actually believing this crap. Waiting for Vince to announce a cloning story next week on SD.

I hope it's not true this has bad news written all over it, but I think the media needed to report and and follow it no matter how much of a crackpot group this seems to be.

* At my internship the day this broke--when we're covering this story, and the producers are calling the WEATHER girl a "freakazoid"... well... that doesn't bode well, does it?
* If this was such a legitimate announcement and scientific breakthrough... what better place to hold the press conference than a Florida Holiday Inn?
