Aaron Brooks says hi.

In other news, how soon can the Giants get Webster in at CB? Or, ya know, someone who can defend against the passing game? Someone to stop LT would be nice, too, bt we all know that's unpossible.

I've been watching football since the 70's. I really would have to go deep into my memory to find as idiotic a play as Randal-El pulled in his attempted lateral in the Pittsburgh/New England game.

I don't know if Chris Carr's "heroics" were AS stupid as Randle-El looking for The Burger King was, but here's a scenario.

There are 9 seconds left, you're down 3 points and facing a kickoff. You have a chance for one more play and a chance to give your best player a chance to either win the game on a miracle lob pass or at least try to draw a flag to put it within field goal range. You're Chris Carr, the Raiders' kick returner. Do you:

a) Attempt to run out of bounds or down yourself at about the 35-40 yard line, giving the offense one last play to try to either win the game or draw a penalty to put the ball within your kicker's range.

b) Run around to the point of running backwards, running all nine seconds off the clock, game over.

Aaron Brooks came to mind, but I expect him and the Saints to do stupid things, so that does lower him slightly in terms of all time idiocy. Also, the fact that the very rare 3 game swing occurred because of this play (Instead of Pittsburgh 2 up with a tie breaker they are tied while New England has the tie breaker) is a factor that puts this at the top, with Leon Lett a close second because Dolphins/Cowboys was a non-conference game, thus no tiebreaker was involved.

Now WTAE (thepittsburghchannel.com) is reporting that the Patriots got an extra 52 seconds on the clock, and the Pats should have gotten the ball with something like 30 seconds left in the game.

On next play, the Steelers dropped back to pass -- which was immediately stopped when the referee threw a flag.

    That stopped the clock.

    The time remaining -- 13:59.

As the referees announced the false start penalty against the Steelers, the clock suddenly went from 13:59 to 14:51.

An additional 52 seconds was added onto the clock by the time-keeper -- and nobody noticed.

Oops. Being planted in Steeler country, I've been told that those 52 seconds definitely prevented a Steelers win (even though the game was tied). It probably did prevent a thrilling overtime of some sorts.

Whoever is paid to notice that kind of stuff should probably be fired now. That's a pretty bad screwup to miss.

Like stated before, my dad wondered the same thing about the Randle El, "Did he expect the Burger King to be there".

Well moving on to local stuff, Titans yesterday had a chance to knock the Rams out early and blew it on a bad throw by McNair. But I think we showed something by coming back and being in it at the end and having a chance to win. The D-line got some pressure on Bulger but, per usual, the secondary just sucked.

And of course now with Travis Henry's suspension it seems to only get better.

Speaking of RBs named Brown, it was such a relief that after a few weeks worth of "Miami drafted the wrong RB from Auburn" talk that Ronnie Brown finally had a good game out there, and made his big run at a time when Miami really needed it. If anything, he looked a lot more decisive hitting the hole than he did his first two games.

Plus speaking on the whole game, both teams played and were game-coached really well. It was just one of those team-who-makes-the-last-mistake-loses type of games.

He'll get most of the carries the next 4 weeks so you may get something outta him.

The worst part of that interception was the fact that if we hadn't tackled him he could've just scored the touchdown and then the offense would've had time to tie it up again. Miami did prove that they have a really strong team though that suffers behind a really weak Offensive line.

KC might be a decent team if they have anything that would be considered a defense... On a positive Houston is having a surprising nice year. Every NFC wildcard team is so inconsistent you just can't tell from one week or the other what they will do.
