from variety:

DirecTV will offer "NFL Sunday Ticket" to PlayStation 3 users, even those who don't subscribe to the satellite service.

Beginning this season, PlayStation users can pay the "Sunday Ticket" rate of $339.95 to access the weekly game package of out-of-market games. Those who subscribe to DirecTV will be able to watch "Sunday Ticket" on their PS3s by paying $50, thereby turning their consoles into additional DirecTV receivers.

Looks like it'll be only PS3 this season.

$340 is $20 per NFL week.

I would've figured this is a big jacked up increase over DirecTV to protect the core business, but that fee turns out to be $335. So this is great for those who want to get Sunday Ticket without switch to a dish.

Me...I'd rather just spend ~$40 for the season and 'only' get the Red Zone thru the cable. But it's nice they're working on this sort of stuff.

YES!

Without installation fees or any such crap, $340/year + $8/month (for hulu plus) HAS to be cheaper than whatever digital package comcast is offering, right? Getting EVERY game is just icing on the cake in that scenario.

Hot damn this is making me giddy.

It's hard for me to get excited about any sort of TV package that costs over $300, BUT... yes yes yes YES a thousand times YES!!

I had such a nightmarish time last year trying to get DirecTV installed in my new apartment (and the only reason I wanted it was for Sunday Ticket) that I ended up going with no TV service at all for the year (opting instead for OTA, Netflix, and Hulu Plus). That meant all my sports watching had to be done via broadcast television, ESPNNetworks.com/ESPN3.com, or random streaming sites. I wasn't sure if I was going to try again with DirecTV installation, but now I don't have to!

Gosh if I can get something like this for the NBA sea-- oh wait, nevermind.

EDIT: Does the $50-for-existing-customers offer mean $50 if you already have DirecTV or $50 if you already pay for Sunday Ticket? Because if it's the former, WOW, what a great deal!

$50 is if you already have DirecTV (and maybe are already getting Sunday Ticket; it's not written clearly on the website.)

From Multichannel News:
Subscribers of the Sunday Ticket package will get the service as part of the additional $50 NFL Sunday Ticket To-Go service, said the company. Click Here (multichannel.com) In other words, you have to pay $50 above the $340 regular price. However, that $50 also lets you watch the games on your smartphone or computer, not just the PS3.
If you currently have Directv, I would encourage you to call their customer service to see if they will give you the deal for new customers to get Sunday Ticket for free. They should be able to knock the price down considerably if not give it to you for free.

I would have to agree. It's not that I wouldn't watch the 2nd quarter of that Bills vs. Bengals matchup... wait, yes it is. All I need is scoring plays, my Lions and what ever other game Fox and/or CBS decides to air that afternoon. I'm still waiting for the NFL to realize it's providing a service I actually perceive as a fantastic value and jack the fee through the roof.

I have to disagree. You get ST on every receiver and I am just crazy enough to run extra wires to have 4 TVs in my family room to watch 4 games at once with my buddies.

My roommate is a hardcore Rams fan (back to when they were still in LA) and he loves being able to watch every Rams game, no matter how bad they've sucked in recent years. Also, we're all Ravens fans and we don't get the Baltimore stations so there are weekends when the Skins and Ravens are playing at the same time, at home, and we only get the Skins game. I love the Skins, but I want my Ravens too.

I agree. It's not that I don't want to see every down of a Redskins game (like Zeruel), but I am also lazy enough that I don't mind someone turning it to games for me. The DirecTV thing sounds great, except that I would have to switch back and forth between all these games. So having Red Zone and CBS/Fox is just enough for my lazy ass (and of course, it being 5 dollars a month for me instead of 20 or more a month is the other main hook or Red Zone).

I believe this week what I(and many others) consider one of the greatest fighting games ever, Soul Calibur II makes it's way to our consoles. What I'm curious about to those who plan to buy the game on the boards, which version?
