Atlanta gets the Wildcard over Carolina because the Panthers are 0-1 in the NFC South and the Falcons are 0-0 I assume?

Precisely, but if you wanted to discard that due to Atlanta having zero divisional games (thus, incalculable winning percentage), Atlanta STILL wins the strength of victory tiebreaker over Carolina, too.

Notice that Detroit would be down to 9th if they weren't the North leaders.

This division sucks.
