THANK YOU TRAMON

Well, they still were sloppy enough to keep me in an uneasy mood throughout practically the entire second half, but my men and/or David Akers got the job done/not and now it's on to Atlanta.

I believe in the bone! KUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHN

I think the most frustrating part of this game for me is that instead of sending the Seahawks into Atlanta for a slaughter, now they get to face a very beatable Chicago team. Good lord, the Seahawks could become a .500 team next week!

That was a thrilling last drive. Well-played. But what's up with Akers missing two FG's? That's not very Akersian of him.

It wasn't Rodgers' best game, but he was the best player on the field today. And James Starks gave a second thought to those who (with good reason) said the Packers couldn't run the ball. It' fitting, though, that after Rodgers was stupidly criticized for a playoff loss last year in which his offense scored 45 points, he gets credit for a playoff win that was as much because of the Packers' defense as it was anything Rodgers did.

With this result, the possibility remains for the Seahawks to host another playoff game, if they upset the Bears and the Packers beat the Falcons.

Road team won three of the four wild card games. What does that mean? Anything?

The road teams winning so much just means weak division winners.

Its a shame Akers missed those field goals.

Its hard to be too disappointed with a 10-6 season with a playoff loss when the expectations going in were 6-10.

Its gonna be an interesting offseason. I'll dream of the Eagles grabbing Asomugha but I doubt that'll happen.

James Jones caught a huge break (the only thing he COULD catch, other than a cold) in the Packers holding on to win. His days as a Packer WR are numbered, and that number is less than 30.

We've been to Atlanta once this year, and aren't afraid of going back there.

ETA - Does anyone know how well the already crappy turf at Heinz Field has "recovered" from the NHL's Winter Classic?

That's bad news because in my opinion Driver has lost a step as well. Are we ready for Jordy Nelson as a #2 WR?

Nope, no we are not.

I mean, yeah, but his TD catch was pretty good.

I can't believe James Starks is basically almost as good as his hype was with all the hype amongst Packerdome.

This was Aaron Rodgers' worst playoff game ever. A scary fact.

We could be one week away from a Bears/Packers NFC Championship game being set. That would make Chris Berman explode with joy. If it happens I think they would have to make sure there is a foot of snow on the ground, even if they need to use the snow machines from a ski resort.

I know we have a lot of Packers fans on this board (btw, when did that happen? I never noticed it until last season) but it sure does sound like everyone is pretty quick to write off the Falcons. Does second best record in the NFL, second best home record in the NFL, best running back in the NFC, best wide receiver in the NFC, and near total dominance of the NFC not count for anything these days?

Or how about at LEAST a little thing called a head-to-head win? I understand that the game was decided in the last seconds, but to hear everyone tell it (on here AND on Fox, at least today) the Packers clearly should have won the first matchup. I just don't see it.

Well, spf is a Bears fan, so he doesn't really fit your theory :-)

The Falcons played a good game at home in the Dome against us. Leaving there (I was there, in the end zone where the winning kick went), I said we'd meet again, and was looking forward to it. We stood toe to toe, and we're healthier now. I'm not expecting the Pack to be favored, but we still haven't trailed by more than 7 points all season.

Keep in mind that they really talk more about the teams that just played, so I wouldn't feel slighted if I were you.

It's almost not fair for Akers to take any heat for the loss. I mean, I know it's deserved, but he's been the most consistent(ly good) part of this team this season. I feel bad putting blame on him.

During the game, I started jotting down on a nearby napkin a list of people I loved and hated.

People I loved: my girlfriend, Juqua Parker, Moise Fokou, Jamar Chaney and Aaron Rodgers for calling a timeout less than a minute into the 2nd half.

People I hated: BJ Raji, Winston Justice, GB's rookie RB Jordin Sparks and Joe Buck (just because, but also for saying "a hold for Philadelphia on 3rd down" after a huge stop at the end of the game. The way he said it made me think there was a holding call against the Eagles).

Jason Avant's name was crossed out on both lists several times. I can't tell where he ultimately ended up.

Yeah. But for a guy who's played his whole career in Philly, he sure has had a couple of stinkers when the weather's gotten worse over the years.

God yes. It's a sad reflection of the state of the Eagles' line that he was at times being spoken about as one of the steadier performers on it, largely because he has progressed to the point where he doesn't fall over until someone at least gets within two or three yards of him. McGlynn can piss right off too.

That's how I'm trying to look at it, but it's hard not to be pissed after the way the game went.

I think TO was the last time the Eagles made the glaringly obvious free-agent* signing that everyone could see would improve the team in a heartbeat, so I'm not hopeful. I'll settle for anything that represents an upgrade on Patterson. So "any cornerback" basically.

Basically, from the moment Clay Matthews knocked Kevin Kolb out of Game 1, the Packers were pulling the long con on the Eagles and their fans...letting us all think the Eagles were maybe a SB contender until the Pack came back to crush that notion. It'd be poetic if it wasn't so painful.

Total insanity. The NFL pulls up a seat at the bar next to Eagles fans to cry into their beers. I could only imagine the numbers Vick could've and would've pulled in the later rounds. He may have a do-over of his redemption tour next year, but the magic is gone.

I think Asante Samuel might disagree about them not signing a high level free agent.

I said nothing about "high level" signing. I said obvious FA signing that would clearly improve the team.

Lito and Sheldon were both playing at a high level at that time. I don't recall anyone suggesting CB was their pressing need back then certainly, although for the record I'm a much bigger Asante fan than most.

Well done though for offering an inappropriately snarky response to a post you clearly didn't bother to read properly.
