Apparently, because Vampiro takes a fireball to the face, and MTV was worried about copycats. (Although you'd think they could have figured this out before now, since the footage has been in the can for months!)

I hope the show stays on the air -- I enjoy it for what it is, a wacky stunt show -- and hope it can stick around for a while. (Also, their internet "Xtra" show has some good stuff -- what appear to be full matches, rather than clipped-to-highlights-only.) It's too bad their ratings have plunged so dramatically.

Completely unfounded rumour, probably, but back in the early '00s an issue of Power Slam suggested that Sean Morley and Adam Copeland were inches away from having their gimmicks swapped prior to their debuts.
