Who has a better chance of being the next big thing, Brock Lesnar or John Cena? Discuss.

Brock obviously has an advantage in his size and muscle mass, but Cena shows more potential on the mic. I think as long as they both develop their movesets and psychology, and (this is the trick) get decent stories to work with, they'll both have bright futures. Of course, if Lesnar shows the kind of brilliance that his fellow NCAA champion Kurt Angle showed in his first year, the sky's the limit.

True, True. But to bring up your sig. I believe Chris Jericho was only a man of 1,004 holds. Therefore you're 4 holds better than Y2J!

I think Cena's weak on the mic, I hated his promo against Test, though it was weak and unoriginal. Plus he's not over at all.

Brock with a win over Rock really could be The Next Big Thing and I've recently REALLY picked up on this guy. Also, WHY aren't the announcers talking about how he hasn't lost a singles match yet? Tisk, tisk. I really can't WAIT to see Brock/Rock, and think it'll be an interesting match.

Giving the 7/29 RAW match of Benoit/RVD 4 stars is like Whitney Houston calling Bobby Brown the "King of R&B." The "King of R&B"!? SHIT! Ribs and Barbecue! Rocks and Blunts! That match wasn't no four stars, just like he ain't the "King of R&B"! You ain't that high! Now, I'm not saying you're a crack-head. Just very...Crackish. I think they're both going to do just fine. Cena's a bit bland but he can move in the ring. His mic work so far has been okay, not great, but I think he'll improve. He just seems like a natural.

I loved Brock upon his arrival and I'm still very much into him, but I do hope we see some variety out of him soon. I don't need to see the shooting star yet (although I would go crazy if he does it at summerslam), but I do want to know if he's got any of Angle's skills on the mat. I don't know much about heavyweight amatuer wrestling, but I've been remembering the tremendously boring Rulon Gardinar match against the Russian monster. It was dramatic in a patriotic sort of way, but it involved a lot of hugging and pushing and not much of the speedy excitement Kurt brings.

sign me up in the Brock camp as well. Cena has some nice moves, but his promos are weak, and just looks too generic. Brock has nice moves, a unique look (at least until Batista came along) and he isnt horrible on the mic. plus, he may not get huge reactions live, but i remember reading somewhere that he draws some of the highest rated segments on RAW. that could explain the sudden drop of RAWs ratings, the week after Brock left.

or maybe i'm totally wrong, but thats my opinion

Brock has lost by DQ, he hasn't been pinned. I think what would make Brock better and really give Heyman a reason to be there is if before matches Brock would be seen watching tapes of his opponent and wrestle every match differently based on his advesary. So if he wrestled Kidman for instance he would try to ground him, but if he wrestled Mark Henry he would go for a more high flying quick offense.

If you're talking about amatuer, Brock was the push and grunt style of wrestler. Nothing really flashy, he eventually just overpowered his opponents through attrition. Kurt Angle is known in the Amatuer Wrestling world as a guy who is just an exciting wrestler, who'll do anything in the terms of tricks, pins and holds to get a guy down.

As for Rulon, that was a totally different style of wrestling, too.

I actually like Cena's promos and he's an alright wrestler, but I guess Lesnar, because he's more powerful, and of course the Happy Dance.

I think Cena's better than Brock, but his lack of a gimmick really holds him back. I'm sick of all these generic wrestlers just going under regular names. At least Nowinski and Noble have a unique gimmick to call their own, but guys like Cena and Orton need some pizzazz to get over. they're just too bland. I think Cena has some potential on the mic, but if he's just going to say dumb stuff like the Test woodchuck promo, it's a waste. I do like his "rewind" promos, though. Those could be pretty funny if his lines are clever enough.

Wow, I think Cena is awful. The guys moveset is so mediocre and bland it's not even funny. He doesn't one move that no one else on the roster can do. I think Hogan could do that guys whole moveset. His mic work needs some help to, he seems like he's forcing it too much. The kid has potential, but nowhere near the upside Lesnar has. He's got a somewhat unique style, it's at least different from 90% of the WWE roster, and he's coming along quite nicely on the mic. I didn't really like the guy until the night after King of the Ring, it all just kind of clicked for me. I went into the night hating him and left that show liking the guy and he just keeps growing on me. As for Cena, it was the exact opposite, I liked his first appearance with Angle and since then...all down hill. Hell, Rico should have beat him tonight, better mic skills, better moveset, wish he was younger.

Cena is nowhere near Lesnar who is getting the big push and the big persona.
Cena is a work in progress. We will get familiar with him and watch him grow a persona and a character in time..
Of course before that happens we might grow bored with him..
Of course that could happen with Brock as well, or has actually happened with some of us already..

John Cena reminds me of the default create a wrestler in one of the WWF video games. From his look to his ring attire to his moves he is pretty plain.

Exactly, so what do you do at a later point? You go back and add the more special moves..WWE will do that with him too..some day.
And wasn't Rocky very lame and plain first too?

In real life, Angle wrestles in one of my favorite weight classes. The guys in the weight classes right under 275 are fast enough to be entertaining and big enough to do badass moves. In legit amaetur wrestling, I saw my friend who wrestled 215 and was solid muscle take a gay into a modifed fireman's carry slam (he did it legally) and crush the guy's shoulder, making him give up. The guy who gave up was ok by the next day, but the move riveled some WWE finishers. Anyone who thinks submissions don't hurt and wouldn't make someone tap needs to be put in a nice Angel sometime.

I am gonna have to jump on the bandwagon here and go with both. Brock's staredown on the Rock was just intense and I think the casual fans are gonna go apeshit for The Rock/Lesnar showdown at SummerSlam, especially if WWE is smart and doesn't throw the two of them in a bunch of tag matches together and whatnot leading up to the card. I am already huge on Brock and I think if he puts on a good match with the Rock and busts out the Shooting Star for the finish the rest of the net may finally start to give him a little more respect as well.

I think Cena is probably even more guaranteed than Brock Lesnar to be a huge star sooner than later. Cena has the charisma, marketable look and skills that are needed. I think judging him on one INCREDIBLY stupid Smackdown promo in terms of promos is a little unfair. Anyone who has seen any of his OVW stuff can attest to the fact that the guy is hilarious on the mic, especially when he just goes out there and improvs. Hopefully we will seeing a little more of that in the near future.

Cena's video is an odd mix of funny & lame. It has three scense and repeats, him doing a wrestling spot, showing his name flashing then him with a goffy smile on his face with his thumb/index finger apart about an inch. A gester no man should do, he does it over an over on his intro video
