...a big one, the biggest one possible. Bruno Sammartino is going into the Hall this year, as while there are still some issues between he and Vince, Triple H mended fences between Bruno and WWE and got Sammartino on board with the induction. Great to see Bruno get some long overdue recognition as one of the company's true legends and kudos to HHH for making it happen.

Wow. I'm not often totally shocked but HOLY SHIT WOW.

Bruno and Backlund going in the same year. Are they the last two glaring missing all-time greatests missing from the HOF of their era?

I guess the last Biggest Star Still Missing will be Macho Man after this.

Goddamn. It seemed like it was plausible this year but I never really thought it was possible. Another feather in Triple H's increasingly feathery cap.

They could still do Macho Man as the posthumous this year, which would be amazing. Last week, I actually watched again their Savage video from the Raw after he passed. That montage was incredible.

The thought about attending this year's HOF ceremony went from "yeah, it'd be kinda cool to hear Mick Foley and Bob Backlund's speeches live, but is it worth the hassle of commuting back to NJ late on a Saturday night?" to simply "I must attend this."

If the rumor of Hunter brokering peace is true, this guy is doing some good things backstage.

Now the WWE needs to use some of that three-hour RAW time to really show why this is a big deal.

If Bruno and the Poffos go in this year, I will start to worry for Vince's health.

With Bruno/Foley/Backlund all going in, I wouldn't expect Savage to go in until next year. Hell, if even Bruno is going in, maybe there's hope for Warrior down the road.

I'd imagine The Rock is going to go under consideration next year. Not to mention The Undertaker, who's career looks to be nearing a close.

Add in Trish and this maybe the best HOF next to Hogan and his rogues' gallery. There is talk among the group last weekend of going and tickets were available, so I am not sure now.

That is simply unbelievable. I still wonder though just how much money did Trips promise Bruno to show. I'd like to be a fly on the wall there.

Good for Trips and whoever else played a role in this. Bruno was a huge part of WWF history and it's about time his name got heard there again. Hope they'll treat him well.

I was too young to see Bruno in his MSG heyday but I have a couple of fond childhood memories of an older Bruno main eventing in Boston Garden in 1986-1987. I recall an amazing spectacle of Bruno stomping the crap out of Macho Man Randy Savage and getting a standing ovation. Really thrilled Bruno takes his rightful place in the Hall of Fame. It's long overdue.

Who inducts him? Vince? Hunter? Mean Gene?

The Bruno video package was a tour de force of Bruno's various hairstyles of the 60s and 70s. He had it all: the slick close crop, the big side burns, the big helmet head. Bruno always kept his look fresh with the times. And check out this new interview with him explaining why he's accepted HOF induction: Bruno's now bald with a mustache. Still changing up that look. Bruno's still got it.

Cena is the 21st Century Bruno Sammartino in both length of stay at the top and being so firmly about "values" in a way that probably appeals to Bruno. Having the #1 guy in wrestling induct him seems fitting since they're finally back to touting Bruno as the greatest ever. I think the only downside to Cena would be if he gets booed coming out for the induction, not sure if the crowd turns it off for the HoF.

HHH would also be pretty fitting and of the right stature. He's also older than Cena, so he might be able to speak to actually growing up watching Bruno (as opposed to Cena's respectful "he was my father's favorite and his father's favorite"). Plus, if HHH really was the guy who got this done, he kinda deserves the honor.

Also, Brock should come out and F5 Bruno to get some heat for HHH/Brock II.

OR! Bruno should reveal he was behind both the Nexus and The Shield all this time as part of his silent war with Vince. Bruno Sammartino as the mastermind behind Wade Barrett's Bigger Picture: greatest payoff of all time.

I, on the other hand, am not too young to remember Bruno in his heydey. We went to many shows at the Portland Exposition Building back in the 1970s and Bruno was always the man. I also fondly recall Lou Albano, Tito Santana and SD Jones, too, but that was at the Civic Center when that opened around 1978.

Yay Bruno!
