Welcome home, men of the 2nd Bn, 127th Inf, 32d "Red Arrow" Brigade, WI Army Nat'l Guard! Good luck to those down south.

(EDIT: Thanks for the better thread icon, mods!)

Former All-Star Championship Wrestling heavyweight champ "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce has re-gained the NWA World Heavyweight Championship from Brent Albright! Huzzah!

From Wikipedia:

On September 20, 2008, Pearce continued his year-long feud with Brent Albright, as he defeated him in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at Ring of Honor's "Glory by Honor 7" event at the fabled ECW Arena. Pearce finished off Albright with Albright's own finishing hold, the Crowbar. This begins Pearce's second reign as champion.

Congrats to the Scrap Daddy...he'll be defending his lovely red-belt NWA world title against AWA champ Larry Zbyszko (really!) in a title unification match October 18th in Waukesha, WI.

How are the NWA and AWA merging? Is it equitable?

Well, there are a couple of AWA titles floating around now. Larry Z has been beaten for it a couple times I think.

I don't want to spoil it for you, but there might not be a definite finish.

Yeah, I smell a double-countout, or DQ, or some other shenanigans (like every other title vs. title match ever in history.) It could still be entertaining, though.

Just for clarification's sake: apparently, the AWA heavyweight title held by ol' Larry (the last champ of the original AWA) is that of AWA Superstars of Wrestling, a promotion whose link to Verne Gagne's original AWA is tenuous at best.

The match is being put on by Brew City Wrestling, an affiliate of AWA Superstars of Wrestling (no NWA affiliation or sanction here; I think Pearce is just working a date. Hence my suspicion of shenanigans.)

You may wanna read those Wiki articles I linked to; it's kinda confusing.

Go Pearce!

If Hogan can't walk away, it's the job of the office (namely, the McMahons) to pull him away.
