I changed jobs last year and at this telco I work at now I hear a phrase all the time that I never heard before:
"due diligence"
I hear this from people all over the place "so do your due diligence" "they didn't do their due diligence" and it kinda cracks me up more than anything else just because it sounds so corny.

Nice new sig there, frosty-itis. I approve and do find it to be quite believable.

The first place I ever heard that one was during a corporate acquisition -- I had the impression that it was actually a legal term. So you can bet that anybody who has acquired or been acquired has picked it up. (A telco, you say -- fancy that!)

"Due dilligence" is actually a legal term--it refers to the shit work that junior corporate solicitors have to do in preparation for a transaction. It usually involves ploughing through thousands of pages of financial statements to ensure that everything is properly documented and that there are no surprises of the "oh my god, the CEO of this company secretly sold all of the assets to pay for his coke and hooker habit" variety.

So, not to drag this back on topic, but how long before this new batch of users starts up with the 'what's your favorite match' threads, or the 'this is how I would have ended it' fantasy booking threads?

Even though I signed up yesterday, I've been reading this board for about 5 months. So don't worry, you have one "New User" who knows where not to tread in the 'ol RASSLIN forum.

Actually, I have a LIST of things not to write, and I can post it and then YOU can post YOURS and then WE can DISAGREE and YELL and itll be GREAT OMG!

Pardon the bad Zim impression. I tried. Maybe I'll get better.

Just a curiousity. I noticed today that Papercuts! is W of the day. Vaguely remembering the man, I clicked on his profile to see when he last posted. It was about two years ago, well before the ratings system was implemented, and yet...
