I wouldn't be surprised if the announcers are "told" to say they are destroyed, to prevent people from trying get hold of them.

THAT is what makes the Giants dangerous because there is NO PRESSURE on them to win because no one expects them to or would be shocked if they lost. EVERYONE expects the Patriots to win and the pressure on them to do so WITH a perfect season on the line can only help the Giants if the game is close.
For me, this is the best of both worlds because if the Giants win, as a fan I a psyched. But is they lose, then as a NFL fan, I get to see history and also as someone who hates the '72 Dolphins, a Pats win will shut those guys up forever.

He's been replaced by a Skrull as a Marvel product placement deal with the NFL to promote Secret Invasion and no one told the Skrull that he is supposed to throw key 4th quarter interceptions.
(Which means that Eli was replaced right after the Patriots game.)
