Well, shit. Guess our luck ran out.

Pretty much the entire second half seemed to be a "who can make the dumber mistake and allow the officials to bail out your opponents" contest, but the biggest story of this game was Plaxico Burress' ability to make Al his bitch, and the Pack's INability to realise that they needed to make ANY adjustment to try to stop it. We did okay stopping the run, but not good enough. OUR running game never materialised. After spending the entire playoffs discounting the Giants, I have to give them their props - no, really, after you get through the #1 AND #2 seeds, even I can see that props are deserved.

I still hate Eli Manning, though.

So why does it still feel like a dumb move to pick the Giants? It didn't help any of the OTHER weeks, but ... man, these are the Patriots, people. They'll win. (Won't they?)

The Giants will be the "road" team in Glendale. 10 straight wins in the road whites, plus they played the Pats tough in that last game of the regular season. Maybe it will be a good Super Bowl, and at least we don't have to hear all about Favre for the next 2 weeks.

Out of the four QBs today, Eli played the best. Unbelievable.

Good for him, and good for Tynes channeling his inner-Vinatieri on that last kick.

Congrats pieman. I'm happy for you, and at the same time very disappointed at how the season played out for us. Good luck in the bowl (you're going to need it).

Ok seriously, who is that guy playing QB for the Giants and what has he done with the real Eli Manning?

You know the worst part about this? It isn't so much the denial of the all-time greatest Super Bowl storyline ever (Patriots go for undefeated season against all-time great Brett Favre at the twilight of his career), though that's a big part of it.

It's that now I'll HAVE to root for the hated Patriots. Because for as much as I'd like to see them get knocked off, the thought of Peyton and Eli winning back-to-back Super Bowls and having every analyst and their mother blather on about it until next season just makes my stomach turn.

Even though I just said it was a lock in the other thread.......NY MIGHT just do it....they got stoppage. I'm sticking to NE to win with a MIGHT for NY. At the very least I can look forward to watching the game. Either destiny wins or fate will prevail.

No, but we WILL be reminded that it's ALL ABOUT THE MANNINGS. Lawrence Tynes kicks the game-winning FG in overtime to win it for the Giants; pan to Eli Manning celebrating on the sidelines. Why? BECAUSE IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MANNINGS.

Brandon Jacobs up the middle for a gain of six; pan to Archie Manning. Why? BECAUSE IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MANNINGS.

Brett Favre incomplete intended for Greg Jennings; pan to a close-up of Eli Manning on the sidelines. Why? BECAUSE IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MANNINGS.

And thank you Fox for reminding us that IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MANNINGS. Joe Buck: Brandon Jacobs fights for first down and Eli Manning is at the 47 of the Packers. F*ck.

Amazing, just amazing. That game nearly killed me (more specifically, RW McQuarters, and Lawrence Tynes nearly killed me. God, those 2 lucked out in the end)

I'm sure that New England will be something like 8 point favorites, or thereabouts, but you know what, screw it. No one said they'd beat Dallas, no one said they'd beat Green Bay, and they gave New England a game week 17. As long as it's a better performance than they gave against Baltimore the last time they were in the Super Bowl, then it's all gravy. Hell of a year.

More importantly, the postgame interviews confirm that Tom Coughlin didn't lose his face to frostbite, God that was scary whenever Fox hit a closeup on him.

I know there are lots of Packers fans here, but since I don't like #4, I'm happy with tonight's result.

Also, I want to Pats to kick the 72 Dolphins out of the record book, so I don't mind seeing them have to face the weaker team on paper.

Do Tiki and Shockey qualify as "Ewing Theory" candidates now?

Congrats to the Giants, and thank you for sparing us 2 weeks of the national media nut-scrubbing Favre.

Tampa and Dallas were won in the blue jerseys, as was Washington in win #1.
Never saw this happening with this team, especially after the Vikings and home Redskins debacles.
There goes the 'No road kicker has ever kicked a 40+ yard field goal at Lambeau in the playoffs' stat. 47 yards on grass? I guess that makes Tynes better than Norwood.
I'd have much more faith in riding the wave through the title if there was no bye week, as New England is historically excellent coming out a bye and the Giants have been putrid for over 15 years in terms of bye weeks.
I can't see any middle ground in the Super Bowl: It is either New England 42-10 or the Giants 23-21. I'm going to need the next 2 weeks to convince myself it will be the latter.

Simmons officially awarded Tiki co-ownership of the 2007 Theory Trophy (along with Arenas).

This is a really disappointing end to the season. If it was against Dallas or New England, teams that going in I would have known were better and that we needed to be lucky to beat, that would be one thing. But I never honestly believed that the Giants were as good as their recent results were. Obviously they're the better team, but that doesn't make this any less painful.

Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you...

Fuck, now I have to listen to my dad arrogantly flap his yap for another two weeks, and potentially for a whole year if the Giants can defy history and beat the Patriots. (Which, as I admitted to him, would be great revenge for the city for the Great Chokejob of 2004 by the Yankees in the ALCS against the Red Sox, but still, this bitter Bucs fan desperately needs the required retribution.)

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

Good to see another QB from the bayou represent in the S.B. You know the NFL is smiling right now with two of the top markets in the S.B. which should bring good TV ratings.

Now what Green Bay/NFL do with all the NFC champs material(Shirts, Hats etc) that was made and ready to sell? E-bay it?

Knowing how heated the Red Sox/Yanks rival is, I can't wait to read the blogs/message boards on this game.

Should be a good game.

...Micheal Strahan is a bonafide HOF contender without a ring. Eli Manning is stepping out of the shadows of his father and brother. Tom Coughlin isn't a complete idiot and it was really Tiki holding the team back. NY diminishes Boston's chances of a triple crown furthering the sports rivalry between both cities due to clips of Yankees/Red Sox games. Pick one, pick all.

I know the media is going to try to play it up, but this isn't Yankees/Red Sox. This isn't even Celtics/Knicks. Yankees/Red Sox is a century of hatred passed on through the generations. The Giants were the main team of the region before the Patriots were formed, and arguably for a few decades after the Patriots were formed. Hell, most Patriot and Giant fans share a common disdain for the Jets. I'll always respect Belichick for wearing the red jacket and running the defense that won 2 Super Bowl Titles for the Giants. Plus, he royally screwed over the Jets.
Difference between Tiki and Shockey: Tiki at least made a Super Bowl, Shockey still has never been active for a playoff victory.

I'll echo what RSN said. My dad was a Giants fan and they are my next favorite team after the Pats (even though I can't stand Eli). Pats/Jets, Sox/Yanks, and C's/Bricks are much bigger rivalries between Boston and NY than Pats/Giants is.
