South Park Studios, as usual, is your hookup:

Launching the second half of the seventh series, episode 708 entitled "South Park is gay!" has the whole town joining the hip new homosexual craze. Suddenly, it's cool to be gay! Cartman, Stan, Kyle and Kenny go head to head with the other kids to see who can be the "gayest," while Mr. Garrison responds with, "If straight people are gonna steal our culture, then us REAL gays are just gonna have to step it up a notch!"

Later on in the season, the boys take on Rob Reiner and the anti-smoking hysteria and explore the issue of the elderly and their apparent vendetta against farmer's markets.

That would be Towelie, a genetically-engineered towel that gets stoned at every opportunity.

No, none of that is a typo.

"That's it!"

"What's it?"

"The melody to Funky Town."

I love Towelie.

Didn't Mr. Garrison already "step it up a notch" in that episode where he was trying to get fired?

I'm curious to see how he's going to top that.

New South Park is great!

And a added bonus is that November 2 will be The Simpsons Halloween Special.

I missed a hell of a lot.

Wasn't Kenny "definitely dead" and replaced by some kid named Butters?

Butters had been around since the first or second season, just not as one of the main foursome. When Kenny died "for good," Stan, Kyle and Cartman held auditions to determine who'd fill his spot; Butters had the job for a while, then got kicked out for, well, being Butters. (Butters then flipped out and invented a supervillain alter ego with which to enact revenge, Professor Chaos, but that's another story.) Tweek was their next "substitute Kenny."

As for the real Kenny... Kenny's body was cremated, then consumed by Cartman (who thought that Kenny's ashes were chocolate-milk mix). Kenny's spirit possessed Cartman for an episode or two after that.

In last year's Christmas episode (Red Sleigh Down), at the very end, Kenny simply... reappeared. The kids greeted him as if nothing had happened, and he hasn't died since.

Because God forbid Fox airs the Treehouse of Horror episode before Halloween one of these years... (I, like the rest of America, could give a fuck about the World Series.)

Is George Clooney going to return as Stan's gay dog?

And after further review... ehhh. There were a few decent bits, but they could've done sooooooooo much more with the premise, and once the "crab people" stuff started it went downhill. A base hit, but not the home run I was hoping for.

Rather than "kicking it up a notch," Garrison was the TAMEST male adult on the show -- which was the point to some extent, I suppose, but it didn't jive with the episode description.

I'm sure Parker and Stone have some aces up their sleeve, but they'll have to work hard to top the best of Seasons 6 and 7.

I was diggin' big-time on the Crab People theme song, for some reason. But yeah, compared to the what the ads built up, and compared to Kid Notorious... it was sorta eh.

Put me in the "eh" camp as well.

Highlights for me:

Limp wristed Timmy.

Pastel-plush Kenny!

crab people...crab people...

(The concept was lame, but I dug the theme too)

Hopefully it'll kick into high gear next week.

Ok I guess you're right, very spotty episode.

Now you will receive us.
We do not ask for your poor, or your hungry.
We do not want your tired and sick.
It is your corrupt we claim.
It is your evil that will be sought by us.
With every breath, we shall hunt them down.
Each day we will spill their blood, 'til it rains down from the skies.
Do not kill. Do not rape. Do not steal. These are principles which every man of every faith can embrace.
These are not polite suggestions, these are codes of behavior, and those of you that ignore them will pay the dearest cost.
There are varying degrees of evil. We urge you lesser forms of filth, not to push the bounds and cross over, in to true corruption, into our domain.
For if you do, one day you will look behind you and you will see we three, and on that day you will reap it.
And we will send you to whatever god you wish.

It seemed like a rushed episode, they probably didn't intend for it to lead off the season but wanted to put it out there quick to be ahead of the curve.

I want a Mr. Slave doll, when you squeeze him he would just say "jesus christ"

There were definitely some funny parts, but some of it (especially at the end) was more wierd than funny. I was wondering what they were smoking when they came up with this stuff. I guess they figured that "Drugs are goood" a la Mr. Mackey in the Plane-arium episode.

Craaaaab people, craaaaab people...

I admit it: I laughed at the wierd stuff too.
