I hear from a reliable source that Q107 in Toronto has a single from the new Rush album, entitled "Crucible on the Ocean II". Apparently the album is called "Homosapiens", and it will be released on April 2nd. [DROOOOOOL]. More details as I get them, if you care.

I had seen that they had finished recording but hadn't seen a released date or title, so thanks very much for the info. I am really looking forward to hearing it...

That, and the new Big Head Todd & The Monsters album will be out March 26, so we should be getting some good new music here soon...

Have they said what kind of style the album is? I'm hoping it's somewhat old school Rush

I haven't heard anything, but my guess is that it will still be on the same lines of Test For Echo, Counterparts, and the Geddy Lee solo album. Maybe a little harder, since that seems to be the current guitar style of choice for Alex...

Well, from all accounts, this is the hardest, heaviest album they've ever done. You gotta take into account that this is the studio album after a live album, and they always dramatically change their sound after a live album, so don't go into it with any expectations. I'm picturing it along the lines of a Tool album.

Oh, and after speaking to someone at Anthem Records, I found out that all of my above post is complete bullshit. There's no single, no public title, and no tour dates yet. I apologize.

Somebody liked "Test for Echo"? I hated that album. But I loved "Counterparts". I would have never thought of them as similar.

What was Lee's solo disk like? I haven't heard it. I DID like the "Victor" record for some reason...

Lee's solo album was excellent. "Moving to Bohemia", "The Present Tense" and "Working at Perfekt" are all very good, Rush-esque songs. "Home of the Strange" is a fun, funny tribute to Neil Young.

Test for Echo was AWESOME. A pox on rte66usa (if that is your real name) for your doubts. Give it another chance, man. Right now -- put it in your CD player.

I have faith that their upcoming album will be as good as anything they have done before.

Well, I did. I put it in and listened to it all the way through twice while driving this morning. First listen since damn near it came out.

Anyway, my amended finding is this: Track 1 - Excellent. Track 2 - Excellent. Tracks 3-End - Rush by Numbers. They all sound like bored rehashes to get an album together.

Are you telling me that you can look me in the eye (figuratively) and tell me you don't like Time and Motion, Resist and Carve Away The Stone? I'll admit, Virtuality is a bit crappy (but still great compared to most other music), but give Time and Motion a few more listens. It'll grow on you like a fungus. And you would appreciate Resist more if you saw 'em perform it live.

Okay, I forgot about "Resist". If I were creating an ultimate Rush compiltion MP3 with unlimited disk space, that one would make it aboard. But not the others.

Now let's all relax. We're probably scaring the non-Rush fans.

I thought that was the idea behind becoming a Rush fan to begin with.

And actually, I do have an unlimited Rush MP3 collection. The entire Rush discography (well, except disc 2 and 3 of Different Stages), 20 albums, one disc, one RioVolt car CD player. Long road trips are a breeze.

Ironman, being vulgar for no reason except,

Sucks to be a sore loser, Sucks to have a team takes in the lose, but the fans don't, Sucks to have an have a overrated QB that leads the NFL in turnovers (How is his thumb), and sucks to lose a lot of money.

"Well that not a bad thing, its a good thing" DDP

now back to RUSH

I hear that Rush is also putting out a new box set with all the favorites from their first to last album, kind of like an updated "Chronicles"
Any news on this?

Did the VH-1 Legends "Rush" Air yet?

No, there isn't a box set coming out. There was a set of discs called Rush Retrospective 1 and 2. They're not at all hard to come by. And there are no plans for a Rush Legends on VH1, mainly because the band doesn't want to do it.

Damn. And the total keeps rising, from what I've read. What a horrible way to die...my heart goes out to the families of all those people... the cynical side in me wonders who's gonna reap the consequences. I mean pyro, in a nightclub?!
