Punch-Drunk Love, Paul Thomas Anderson's (Boogie Nights, Hard Eight and Magnolia) new film, starring Emily Watson and Adam Sandler. I know Watson's face, but can't really place her anywhere besides Red Dragon... But, DAMN this preview got me pumped. As a BIG fan of the other three movies, seeing Sandler do something a bit different could be REALLY awesome. That and of my favorite directors, I gotta' say that Wes and Paul Thomas Anderson are 1 and 2. I just wonder what's with the limited release?
That's one of the few things that sucks about living in Columbus, we don't get these limited releases fast enough. I knew this movie had the possibility of happening, but never read it was in the can. Hopefully we have this within the next two or three weeks, because I'm already starting to watch Magnolia and Hard Eights again, and it's only a matter of time before Boogie Nights is in my DVD player doing a go-round in my Paul Thomas Anderson put-over fest. If anyone sees this movie, feel free to put up a review, just don't spoil it too much.

If you want to see a truly inspired performance from Emily Watson, rent "Breaking The Waves." It is a great movie, and I think she got an Oscar nomination for her role.

PDL is getting a wider release, I know it's coming to the Muvico megaplex near me soon (which gets indy flicks now and again.) of course, I am spoiled by the Landmark. New theater, 8 screens, all indy and foreign flicks, all the time.

I recognized Emily Watson from Cradle Will Rock and couldn't place her face. I had an idea she was in Gosford Park, as well.
Punch-Drunk Love will definitely show here. We have three indy theatres in the area, it's always a question of how long, of course. Plus, Royal Tenenbaums started off in limited release and spread to the major theatres, so I just hope it gets that kind of exposure.

Hopefully, the same thing will happen with "Bowling for Columbine", only REALLY FAST. Does anyone know where it's opening that's closer to CT than NYC? I could kinda stand to see it by November 18th... it's for a presentation in senior sem about Michael Moore.
