They'll have to do a heck of a lot more to convince me to pick up the new PSP. I picked up the new PSP when they doubled the internal memory, made it slimmer, and whatever they did.

I'd love to get my hands on a 160GB PS3 though...

The 160-GB PlayStation 3 got my jaw dropping too, until I read the Wikipedia article-- apparently, the PS3 won't be backwards-compatible with PS2 and PS1 games. If I'm dropping $500 on a 160-GB PS3, it had damn well better be PS2-compatible.

The more I think about it, the less important backwards compatibility is. Most (though not all) of the people who want to play PS2 game still have a PS2, and it's not hard to find many solutions for switching your setup up back and forth. Plus, once you get into the PS3 games, you don't find yourself wanting to go back to the PS2 stuff as much. At least that's been true for me - it's nice to have, just like it's not to be able to play Blue Ray, but it's nothing I actually use most of the time.

Still, for $500, I'd want more than you're getting. Getting Uncharted is nice, getting PAIN is okay, but it's not easy enough to use as a media server to justify paying for 80 more GBs.

Me too. I only break out my PS2 to play the earlier versions of Guitar Hero. Are there any plans to re-release those for PS3?

I dunno; I'm still pretty heavy into some PS2 (and even some PSone) games, I'd probably benefit from backwards compatibility.

If anything, my apartment is kinda small, and I don't have the space to hook up my PS2, Wii, DVD player, VCR, and the digital cable terminal, let alone adding a PS3 to the mix. Storage and wall unit space are difficult to come by :)

VCR? PSOne? Wow, you sure do love kicking it old school, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you might be in the minority on this one.

I can explain My cable operator doesn't offer a DVR machine, or DVR support, for that matter. As for the PSone games, there are some really good games that I still play; FFVIII being a great example.

I have a Sega Master System that still gets play, but that's hooked up through the coaxial connection. :)

If you have a PS2, why would you need a DVD player as well? You've got one box there that can play your DVDs, PS2 games and PSone games. Is it a recordable DVD player?

All DVD players were not created equal.

Well said; I hate the PS2 as a DVD player. I have a DVD player that supports Divx and has a USB input for video files. I like it.
