I am thinking about buying a new PS2. I would like to get one right away, but I have heard that a new PS2 (at least a new package) is coming out soon. It includes the network adapter, upgraded DVD player, and some other extras that the current package doesn't have. The only info I could get on a release date was "June". Does anyone know an actual date that these new systems will be available? And if it will be worth it to wait?

I believe that it's June 16th, for $199 but I could be wrong.
Progressive scan capabilities network adaptor, 40% quieter fan built in IR reciever for the remote (rumoured that new remote that you can power down/ stand by and eject) no more ilink (that connector next to the usb ports.)
And still no hard drive which wouldve made sense in this iteration.
I may take advantage of my 2 year BB warrenty I got when I got my original since it expires this December and trade in my old one for this one. (Still a 100$ loss. grrr)
I'd say to wait a bit to see if there are any first run problems with this model.
Bear in mind that the current stock of PS2's is going for $179 until they are gone, so if you don't care about the new features, then it would probably be worth it to snap one up now. (although being able to power up/down from the remote is enough to make me try to figure out how to trade up my PS2...)
