Hello! "Which DVDs are coming out 7/21?" you ask. Well, we've got the whole list right here. It comes to 168... PLUS 26 Blu-rays.
You know the routine - hover for price, preorder is always the cheapest, and we include more info via the IMDb and/or tv.com icons AND other sundry hyperlinks.
Business is about to pick up! LET'S GO
PICK OF THE WEEK Robot Chicken: Star Wars - Episode II (The W at Amazon) (Adult Swim, 2009) So help me, I still find this show FUNNY! Mostly repurposed footage, but the deal with these things is you're buying them for the extras. As advertised on last Monday's professional wre&longs;tling programme!
Stargate SG-1: Children of the Gods: The Final Cut (Showtime, Canada, 1997) Recut pilot of the wildly popular series - ...so, they either took nudity OUT or put nudity IN - I can't tell from the Amazon reviewers - and can't you just watch this on Hulu (hulu.com) anyway? Maybe that's the un-re-imagined version...
Route 66: Season 3 Volume 1 (CBS, 1962-3) First 16 episodes - by the way, the entire third season is currently available as a Best Buy exclusive release (in store only), if you're a nut about this series - but all the "Volume 2" discs MAY be defective. So there's that. Confused yet?
TV MOVIE OF THE WEEK A Father's Choice (CBS, 2000) Peter Strauss, Mary McDonnell, Michelle Trachtenberg
BRITISH TV OF THE WEEK The Mighty Boosh: The Complete Season 1 (BBC 3, 2004) Now, these would normally be an automatic pick of the week, except... The Mighty Boosh: Season 2 (BBC 3, 2005) Currently airing on Adult Swim Sunday nights - and hilarious The Mighty Boosh: Season 3 (BBC 3, 2007) Here's the thing. If you can hold out three more months, you can preorder the Boosh box set, which includes all three seasons above AND the bonus disc - and at a much better price than paying separately for all three seasons. I have no idea why BBC/Warner is doing it this way, unless they're hoping they can get everybody to buy this thing twice - and that just seems like they're asking for bad karma, but that hasn't stopped certain distributors in the past....
FURN FILMS OF THE WEEK Big Shot$ (Mitahat La'af - Israel, 1982) Rescheduled from May Don't Cry, Nanking (Nanjing 1937 - China, 1995) Electric Blanket (Smicha Hashmalit Ushma Moshe - Israel, 1995) Also rescheduled from May
COLLECTIONS OF NO GREAT SHAKES Boris Karloff Horror Collection "8 hours of horror on 2 DVDs!" but unfortunately no listing - or idea how many films that might be Bela Lugosi Horror Collection This one at least says "8 horror classics on 2 DVDs!" but again, no list Mad Monster Rally Compilation of three earlier Retromedia compilations: Sci-Fi Trash-O-Rama, Morella's All-Nite Spooktacular, and Morella's Blood Vision Thug City Chronicles "10 Thug Film Collection" - Red Neck, Tony Arzenta, Man Hunt, Yakuza Law, Godfather's Daughter, Perfect Killer, City Rats, Bullet For Hire, Killer Vs. Killers and Blind Rage
LEARNIN' Guitar Licks Bikini Guitar! Suddenly, I'm interested in learning the guitar! Not to be confused with Bikini Guitar!, which has the exact same title but may be a totally different release (although... it didn't stop me from making the exact same joke)
NO MATTER WHAT THEY MAY SAY, SOMETIMES A DVD CANNOT SUFFICIENTLY TAKE THE PLACE OF ACTUAL TRAINING Get on the Mountain "Get on the Mountain is the first-ever interactive DVD instructional course for those who want to learn the necessary skills to get to the top of a mountain. It also provides essential refreshers for occasional climbers who need to keep their skills sharp. Highly accredited mountain guide Jeff Ward will lead you step-by-step through all of the basic mountaineering techniques you'll need to get to the summit. Learn what gear you need to buy, how to use an ice axe, how to self-arrest, how to climb on a rope team and hundreds of other tips that will help you on the mountain." (7/27)
That's it for now! If anything grabs your fancy or you'd like to place your own personal endorsement on anything, I do hope you'll post a reply. I'll be back Monday with the late changes and the list of top preorders! See you then!
No. They are out there on a DVD that came out the same week as the theatrical release and they're going to be on the Ultimate Edition, but they ain't here.
If anyone skipped Coraline because it was a kids movie, please do yourself a favor and pick this one up. The second best movie I've seen this year, no question. (Behind another animated childrens film, no less. I sincerely hope you know which one I'm talking about.)

I am looking forward to seeing this finally. It is one book that after reading I said "This would make a much better movie."
Originally posted by hansen9j Word has it (toplessrobot.com) that it's not worth it to buy Watchmen just yet; wait for the Ultimate Edition.
While I would love the mini Archie, I think I will wait for the Ultimate Edition. I saw the Director's cut a few days ago and the cuts to add a bit to the story.
They aren't deleted scenes, but they are MANY extended bits of existing scenes: When Rorschach is investigating the apartment in the beginning, he has to assault a cop to make an escape. Also, during the "Ride of the Valkyries" scene in Vietnam, you see The Comedian shooting at people with a pistol in a chopper and he happens upon a Viet Cong missing his lower left leg. Instead of shooting him, that is the guy he hits with the flame thrower. Stuff like that.
Most of the extra stuff is when Doc goes missing and the military gets their panties in a wad and grill Silk for his whereabouts. Oh, Comic Book Kid and the Newsstand guy get some a few seconds more screen time in the front of the movie.
I'd say rent it if you're a fan, and buy the Ultimate Edition this fall. I hate having two or more copies of a movie because they keep putting out better editions later.
