Wow, is it Nostalgia Week and I didn't get the memo? Only 167 DVDs and 18 Blu-rays this week but that seems to include a higher ratio of things that appeal personally to a 38 year old white male who is often referred to as CRZ.

F'rinstance...

PICKS OF THE WEEK
The Adventures of Tintin, Vols. 1-5 (The W at Amazon)
The Adventures of Tintin, Vols. 6-10 The thing is, this show really wasn't that good compared to the books from whence they were derived....but all the same, I still have it taped off HBO as well as digitally via downloaded bootlegs, so I might as make 'em all legit by investing the...wait, $84 total? Welll.....maybe I can just wait for some used copies, actually.

RUNNER-UP PICKS OF THE WEEK
Spring Break (1983) Classic.
Hardbodies Collection (1984) (1986) Classic x 2! I know, I know - awful, awful movies, and in the interests of full disclosure I am about two years too young to have truly apprecitated these works of art for what they were at the time, but they DID seem to show the all the time on pay cable later, and hell....compared to Tintin, you have to admit the price is right!

MOVIES OF THE WEEK

THE BIG ONES

Last House on the Left (2009) On the other hand, in a week filled with nostalgia, THIS one might make you nostalgic for the original. Movie website promises that this UNRATED version is "too terrifying for theatres!" Ha, ha.
The Last House on the Left [Blu-ray]

Tyson (2008) Documentary of the famous boxer/child eater
Tyson [Blu-ray]

Love Hollywood Style (2006) Andy Dick, Faye Dunaway, Coolio - wait, what?

Possibly to counter the nostalgia for those of us on the higher end (and beyond) of 18-49, there is also a wealth of releases catering to the YOUNGER this week. It starts with:
Hannah Montana The Movie (2009) Miley Cyrus (duh)
Hannah Montana: The Movie (Two-Disc Edition + Digital Copy) List of bonuses at the movie (now video) website
Hannah Montana The Movie (3-Disc Combo Pack Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy) [Blu-ray]

While we're pondering the cultural relevance of Hannah Montana, we also have a fresh set of releases coming straight

FROM THE DISNEY VAULT
Donald in Mathmagic Land (1959) OH MY GOD THIS IS THE GREATEST MOVIE EVER HOW DID THIS NOT MAKE PICK OF THE WEEK
Yellowstone Cubs (1963) Adorable bears are adorable - let's follow them around with our cameras!
Ride a Wild Pony (Australia/USA, 1975) I....actually don't recognise this one at all.
Pete's Dragon (High-Flying Edition) (1977) Well, I *was* the right age for this one when it came out, too....but I will probably pass. Again. (Not that I was buying *any* DVDs in 2001, mind you.)

EVEN MORE MOVIES FOR YOUNGSTERS
The Swan Princess (1994)
The Swan Princess: The Secret of the Castle (The Swan Princess II - 1997)
The Swan Princess: The Mystery of the Enchanted Treasure (1998)

Let's get back to stuff you and I are interested in, for crying out loud!

Husbands (Extended Cut) (1970) Ben Gazzara, Peter Falk, John Cassavetes (also written by and directed)

The 5 Deadly Venoms (Can Que - Hong Kong, 1978) Hard to believe this hasn't seen a legit DVD release yet...until now. Thanks, Weinsteins!

The Last Starfighter 25th Anniversary Edition (1984) Lance Guest, Catherine Mary Stewart, Dan O'Herlihy, Barbara Bosson and the great Robert Preston.
The Last Starfighter 25th Anniversary [Blu-ray]

Icons of Sci-Fi: Toho Collection The H-Man (Bijo to Ekitainingen - Japan, 1958) , Battle in Outer Space (Uchu Daisenso - Japan, 1959) and Mothra (Mosura - Japan, 1961) - set promises both Japanese AND American versions and everything in TOHOSCOPE!

Final Destination Collection Includes the increasingly ironically titled Final Destination (USA/Canada, 2000) , Final Destination 2 (USA/Canada, 2003) and Final Destination 3 (Germany/USA/Canada, 2006) - right on cue, yet another sequel "THE Final Destination" is coming very soon and they SWEAR it's the really final final one this time.

The Bridge to Nowhere (2009) Ving Rhames, Bijou Phillips, Danny Masterson, Ben Crowley, Daniel London - directed by Blair Underwood - more info and trailer at Image (image-entertainment.com) - or at Amazon

Julia (France/USA/Mexico/Belgium, 2008) Tilda Swinton, Saul Rubinek - more info at Magnolia (magpictures.com)

Shinjuku Incident [Blu-ray]

Surveillance (USA/Germany, 2008) Julia Ormond, Bill Pullman, Pell James More info at Magnolia (magpictures.com)
Surveillance [Blu-ray]

FURN FILMS OF THE WEEK
Sword Masters: Brave Archer and His Mate**SHAW BROTHERS** (Shen Diao Xia Lu - Hong Kong, 1982) Bad week for Well Go to release a Shaw Bros. film with the competing superior release from the Weinstein Bros. (up there in the "Big" section)
Inglorious Bastards 2: Hell Heroes (Eroi Dell'inferno - Italy, 1987) IMDb doesn't list sequel title anywhere, so somebody's probably just trying to make a buck - I don't think that works? Amazon reviewer says this is actually a set of four unrelated films on a double-sided DVD
IP5 (The Jean-Jacques Beineix Collection) (IP5: L'île aux Pachydermes - France, 1992) More info at Cinema Libre (store.cinemalibrestore.com)

I know I've talked this show up before, but it's still a fun reality show parody. It's the only thing I'm recording off CN, or have in the last couple years. The second season, airing now in the US and probably six months ago in Canada the way CN delays these things, hasn't been as a great but is still good and I think they're running a marathon of it tomorrow afternoon.

The Gervais sign gag and "Dam that's good!" quote from Angry Dad were the best parts of this episode. Thumbs down for this one, as way too much time was spent showing "clips" of the nominated short films that opposed Angry Dad.
