Hello! On tap for Tuesday, March 2 are 184 DVDs, 14 Blu-ray and one UMD. They're all here!

Our usual procedures apply: hover over links for prices (cheapest during preorder!), click to order, icons for IMDb, tv.com and movie websites are clickable, and I try to make a few bad jokes here and there as well.

READ ON!

Sometimes, as you well know, nostalgia beckons and you end up with a really awful movie still getting my

PICK OF THE WEEK
Clash of the Titans (Keepcase) (The W at Amazon) (1981) Laurence Olivier, Harry Hamlin, Burgess Meredith, lots of cool Harryhausen, non-CGI creatures (well....when you're 10, they're pretty cool) - upcoming remake will surely suuuuuuuck
Clash of the Titans (Blu-ray Book)

TV OF THE WEEK

Bollywood Hero (miniseries, IFC, 2009) Chris Kattan

Designing Women: Season Three (CBS, 1988-9) I gotta tell ya - this was actually a pretty good season - I'm trying to remember when exactly it got all preachy and left-wing-y - ah well, better off not trying to figure it out. "Big Haas and Little Falsie" is HILARIOUS. More info and NO trailer at the mighty Shout! Factory (shoutfactorystore.com)

Matlock: The Complete Fourth Season (NBC, 1989-90)

Have Gun Will Travel: Season Four, Vol. 1 (CBS, 1960-1) First half (19 episodes)?

This Emotional Life (PBS, 2010) - Series page at PBS (pbs.org)

Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan: Season 4, Vol. 1 (National Geographic, 2007-8) Not sure how many episodes

Jeremiah Season Two (Amazon.com Exclusive) (Showtime, 2003-4) On-demand DVD-R set from MGM/Amazon (3/3)
Poltergeist: The Legacy Season 2 (Amazon.com Exclusive) (Showtime, 1997) On-demand DVD-R set from MGM/Amazon (3/3)

King Arthur and the Knights of Justice: The Complete Animated Series (Syndicated, 1992-3) More info at Image (image-entertainment.com)

Extreme Bodies (Discovery, 2008) Includes Conjoined Twins, Super Obese, Giants and Dwarfs
Men of Discovery (Man vs. Wild, Mythbusters, American Chopper, Dirty Jobs, Survivorman) One disc each of samplers from five series (about 3 hours each!)
Hunting the Lost Symbol (Discovery, 2009)

WHO THE HECK IS ALICE
As you well know, with the upcoming Tim Burton/Johnny Depp adaptation, all previous versions of Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland" are all out of the woodwork with new OR rereleases. There's one more down in the movies section but this week's slate consists primarily of adaptations first seen on television:
Alice (2009 Miniseries) (Syfy, UK/Canada, 2009)
Alice (2009 Miniseries) [Blu-ray]
Alice in Wonderland (NBC, UK/USA, 1999) Robbie Coltrane, Whoopi Goldberg, Gene Wilder, Martin Short - hey, have you noticed how all these Alices seem to have a lot of mugging cameos? More info at RHI (rhientertainment.com)
Alice in Wonderland (BBC, 1966) Episode of "The Wednesday Play" - includes cameos from Peter Sellers (how many times was he IN "Alice in Wonderland," anyway?), John Gielgud, Peter Cook, Leo McKern, Michael Redgrave, and apparently an uncredited Eric Idle (says IMDb).
Sesame Street: Abby in Wonderland Oh, Sesame Street...not you too!

THE REST OF THE TV MOVIES OF THE WEEK
Taken in Broad Daylight / Bonus: Elizabeth Smart Story (Lifetime Movie Network, 2009) (CBS, 2003) Dramatization of the Anne Sluti affair - James Van Der Beek, Sara Canning, LeVar Burton - paired with another famous kidnapping docudrama - Dylan Baker
For the Love of Grace (Hallmark, 2008) Mark Consuelos, Chandra West, Corbin Bernsen
The 39 Steps (2008) (BBC)
F4: Vortex (Tornado - Der Zorn des Himmels - ProSieben, 2006) More info and (most homemade-lookin' ever) trailer at Maverick (maverickentertainment.cc), who don't bother to tell us if it's subtitled or dubbed (my guess: whatever was cheaper)
The Road from Coorain (made for TV, Australia, 2002)
Under Heavy Fire (made for TV, Canada, 2001) Casper Van Dien, Carré Otis
Jesus (CBS, Czech Republic/Italy/Germany/USA, 1999) Jeremy Sisto IS, Gary Oldman, Debra Messing, Jacquline Bisset
Esther (CBS?, Germany/Italy/USA, 1999) Louise Lombard IS, F. Murray Abraham
The Beiderbecke Connection (miniseries, ITV, 1988)

CANADIAN TV OF THE WEEK
Degrassi: The Next Generation - Season 8 (CTV, 2008-9)
Degrassi: The Next Generation - Season 7 (CTV, 2007-8)

BRITISH TV OF THE WEEK
Doctor Who: Remembrance of the Daleks (Special Edition) (Story 152) (BBC, 1988) The Doctor and Ace arrive in London, 1963 - hey, wait, this seems familiar...

VJWorld Visuals Countdown Clock Timer Seriously? Seriously. "Now everyone can see how much time is remaining, on the TV." It puts a VIRTUAL TIMER on your screen. No more cheating at charades! I mean, read this description: "The Countdown Clock Timer features Looping and Straight Countdown Timing. Choose from 60-45-30-20-15-10-5-4-3-2-1 minutes and also a 30 Second countdown. Used with Parlor Games and at Poker Tournaments, Casino and other games like Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble, Whose Line Is It?, Chess, Boggle and Pictionary. Also, it can be used as a Workout Timer, a Homework Clock or for Student Test Timing and so much more." I'm surprised they didn't suggest you use it for cooking your eggs. And they think people will pay TEN BUCKS for this! I mean....y'know, actually, I wish I'd thought of this. I bet they make a mint. Back up the truck!

And with that, we're out for now. I'd love to hear if anything gets you excited enough to reply, but even if nothing here grabs you, I'll be back later to give you the "after press time" changes right up to release day!

Anyone have any experience with this on-demand service? When did this start? Are they doing MGM catalog films as well?

Haven't ordered any but thought about it; Recently (last year?); Yes, although I don't think there are a lot of MGM films out there yet. I listed five back on 12/15/09 (The W) and five on 12/31/09 (The W), and, why not, I'll repaste them here:

Trapeze (The W at Amazon) (1956) Burt Lancaster, Tony Curtis, Gina Lollobrigida
The Group (1966) Candice Bergen, Joan Hackett - directed by Sidney Lumet
Far North (1988) Jessica Lange, Charles Durning, Tess Harper - written and directed by Sam Shepard
Rich in Love (1993) Albert Finney, Jill Clayburgh, Kathryn Erbe, Kyle MacLachlan, Piper Laurie, Ethan Hawke, Suzy Amis, Alfre Woodard - geez, enough names on the videotape box?
A Fish in the Bathtub (1999) Jerry Stiller & Anne Meara

Late for Dinner (1991) (12/31)
Return to Paradise (1953) Gary Cooper (12/31)
Welcome to Woop Woop (Australia/UK, 1997) (12/31)
Two for the Seesaw (1962) Robert Mitchum, Shirley MacLaine (12/31)
Chains of Gold (1991) John Travolta, Marilu Henner (12/31)

A quick search reveals Between the Lines came out 1/28 and I must have missed it, and Dreamchild comes up, but comes up as "has not yet been released."

I think that's everything from MGM listed at Amazon so far. Unfortunately, MGM doesn't seem to have put a list anywhere on their website.

Where the Wild Things Are appears to be the first major title to fall under Netflix's 28-day delay of Warner Bros. new releases. Bummer.
