I'm not afraid to admit that I am a big big fan of the first movie (let's just pretend that "Mortal Kombat: Annihilation" never existed) and it's nice to see that Christopher Lambert is reportedly returning to the role of Raiden ... But what's this about Trish Stratus joining the cast as the new Sonya?

=

???

Personally, I'd rather have Bridgette Wilson come back ... So, is this just another "Edge is Egghead" type net rumor? Wouldn't surprise me.

Lambert revisiting the Raiden character means he'll just be sitting on the sidelines again... as a huge Raiden mark, I can't abide that. My question is, why a third movie? Unless it's super low budget (which would KILL a movie like this) it's pretty much guaranteed to be a financial disaster.

I would like to see another Mortal Kombat movie. There alot of cool charaters in the game and a nice story line. With the way movie are being made these days it can be pulled off and look good. Because what if the matrix was made when Mortal Kombat was? We would be talking bad about the Matrix like we do about MK. Effects are better now then back when MK was made, so lets hope it's a good one or it be direct to video oh well.

Maybe it's just to wash the bad taste that was the second MK movie out of everyone's mouth ... Besides, why would a third movie be a "financial disaster"? The newest MK video game sold very well (from what I've heard anyway, don't have the exact numbers in front of my face at the moment), so the interest in the game's "mythology" is still there ... and with all the other video game-related movies coming out over the next several years, what could one more hurt?

And give me a "sitting-on-the-sidelines" Raiden over a "short-haircut-sporting James Remar who doesn't even look the same as his stunt double" Raiden from MK:A anyday of the week! Aside from the new Sonya (and having Jax spout every stereotypical African American catchphrase in the book) , the new Raiden was the biggest disappointment of the sequel (from a casting perspective anyway; there was a lot more to be disappointed by from that movie).

Did I mention yet that I hated the sequel?

Looks like they removed Trish's name from the movie. Booo

I think she'd be cool as Sonya.

Well according to that IMDB link - John Leonetti is going to direct again - he was the one responsible for Annihilation so I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Okay, lemme speak my peice on dis here mess.

(Allow me to pontificate on these procedings).

Mortal Kombat was cool, but far from original. In fact, all that was done is they remade Enter the Dragon with a Mortal Kombat theme, opting for sorcerer rather than a drug/crime lord. Liu Kang took Bruce Lee's place, Johnny Cage (Linden Ashby) filled in for Roper (John Saxon), and we got Goro instead of Bolo (Bolo Yueng, buff dude with freaky eye in BloodSport). I still think it was cool and all, but in reality, I'll stick with Enter the Dragon if only because it has Bruce Lee in it.

Mortal Kombat Anhilation was a peice of shit that was then vomited on by a drunken hobo. There was absolutely no storyline whatsoever, just people showing up at random and fake fighting. (Insert joke about current state of WWE here). They put in all sorts of weird shit for no appearant reason other than to put it in, like Animalities, Raiden with short hair, and Shao Kahn's bad acting. The main reason behind this? Check the writing credits. John Tobias had a hand in it, and when you give a video game maker a pen and tell him to come up with a plot, well, need I say more?

Kane gets flustered that he didn't get to do something silly this week. Ho hum.
