Paul Heyman out, Kurt Angle is in

WWE.com has learned that the role of SmackDown! General Manager has been assumed by former WWE Champion Kurt Angle.

In replacing Paul Heyman, Kurt Angle’s first order of business was to mold the SmackDown! roster to his liking. In an attempt to do so, Angle has completed two trades with RAW General Manager Eric Bischoff.

The first trade sends F.B.I. member Chuck Palumbo and A-Train to RAW for the combination of the sexy Miss Jackie and Rico.

The second trade is a blockbuster three-for-one deal. RAW’s Eric Bischoff has agreed to send the Dudley Boyz and Booker T to SmackDown! in exchange for former World Heavyweight Champion Triple H. This announcement comes straight off the heels of Triple H being chosen by SmackDown! in the draft lottery just 24 hours prior.

Be sure to check back here as more information becomes available.

And it'll be totally out of line, IMO. We don't need Triple H on Smackdown screwing with Guerrero. Smackdown should always be a Hunter Free Zone.

I like Angle as GM. Of course, it'll only last until he's cleared to wrestle and THEN you know who will take over. :(

Okay, I'll start.....

Chiiiiiiiiiii-riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiist!

HHH being traded to SD was the best thing in the trades. It would have solved a lot of problems on both shows. Now both shows still have all the same problems.

Well, there's a some new lower-card guys on RAW to feed to HHH, but otherwise, it's pretty well status quo.

Angle will be a great GM, that's one good move. But Shiiiiiiiit!

So sayeth Randy Stilton, the real Stinky Cheese Man!

No!

NOOO!!!!!!

DEAR GOD NOO!!!!!!

Okay, now I've vented. The Duds to SmackDown makes a bit of sense, but now RAW has NO established tag teams. So now the top-heavy RAW is still top-heavy...while SmackDown's is less so. Wow.

I love this ... I think it's an awesome move ... I liked Triple H better on RAW ... and plus it helps balance the rosters a bit more ... It also gets Booker T & RVD away from Triple H.

Plus I at least like have Spike on the same show as his :"brothers".

The only downside I see is splitting up the FBI, but they weren't going anywhere anyway ...

How is Smackdown less top heavy then pre-lottery?

In reality, they gained two top level guys in Rob Van Dam and Booker T and lost Edge.

Edit: And they did move Teddy Long to Smackdown. Maybe they're actually going to use him to turn Booker T heel?

Well, at least they didn't have Trip win the WWF/E Title from Guerrero before he left.
Dudleys were stale, needed a change of scenery.
Booker needs a heel turn. Because, looking at the roster now, he might be the only legitimate heel they could have (Angle in a non-wrestling role, no Trip, Giant with bad knees).
With the Rico/Palumbo trade, are they upholding a rule that only 2/3 of the gay wedding can be on the same show?

Why is TVLand stealing my ideas from DEAN's Workrate Report's? They had to be stealing, as I thought I had the only demented mind that could put Bea Arthur and Abe Vigoda in a sex scene.

Smackdown kinda needed a lopsided trade like that. Their roster was still much smaller than Raw's after the lottery yesterday. I'm happy with this, since I kinda liked the Booker/RVD tag team (and now they can have a possible feud if Booker eventually becomes furious at RVD's miscue yesterday) plus Evolution can stay together (call me crazy, but I thought it was silly breaking them up). We'll see how this plays out down the road.

NOOOOOO!

I only asked for two things from this draft--Triple H to Smackdown and no Stephanie as GM. This sucks incredibly. How does this help the Smackdown brand at all? It was heels and star power that they were missing, and granted, for the latter category, they did get Booker and Van Dam. But heels was the main thing, and so they lose Palumbo and A-Train? What is their heel roster now--Angle, Show, and Dupree? Triple H was a good fit, especially considering I AM TIRED OF SEEING HIM ON RAW. God fucking damnit.

I'm actually glad to see Triple H go back to RAW, although I'm sure there are many that disagree with me there.

However, I'm not too thrilled to see Booker T go to SmackDown, as I'm afraid this means Booker T & RVD will continue to tag. Maybe I'm alone here, but I was looking forward to seeing these two pursue singles careers.

I am suprised nobody has failed to link the possibility of a Booker T and Orlando Jones heel tag team, managed by Theodore Long!

BEST TRADE EVER!

Jones gets prime time screen time, Booker works better as a heel, Theodore gets time on the mic, and Jones can be hid in a team environment as he hones his skills!

The only part of this news that actually saddens me is Kurt Angle being GM. Unfortunately, I'm guessing this pretty much means an end of an era and an end to a great career. What a shame, seeing one of the best pure wrestlers go so soon. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not liking the signs of this at all.

If this is indeed the end of Kurt as an in-ring competitor, it is truly sad. However, with constant neck injuries, it's best that he hangs it up before it's too late.

However, I don't see this being the end of Kurt Angle in the ring. I don't know why, but I just don't see him quitting any time soon.

Oh yes, Booker will be going heel with Teddy... my wishes have FINALLY come true! GM Kurt Angle sounds like a nice title, I like today's developments. I see Booker turning on RVD during a tag title match to complete a heel turn where Teddy comes out and announces his new client.

Gotta disagree...Hunter moving to Smackdown was a good move because there's nothing for him to do on Raw anymore...he's beaten almost everyone and been pushed so hard that there's not room for him to do anything meaningful or different on RAW. Sure, you've got a potential Benoit and Edge feud, but where were they just brought over from?...Smackdown.

The last bout of rumors said that Kurt was just extremely, painfully sore and that they were going to give him some time off and a lighter schedule for a little while until he feels up to it again. Apparently, he doesn't need any more surgery or anything at this time.

Maybe I should put something clever down here....

Smackdown lost Edge AND Benoit AND Lesnar, that is far more than they got back with RVD and Booker.

Now Smackdown has Eddie, Kurt (for now), Big Show and Cena, I still don't buy Booker or RVD as a main eventer, maybe RVD but not Booker.

Raw has Triple H, Benoit, Edge, Jericho, Stone Cold, Foley, Kane, HBK. Then they've got Christian and Orton who are on the same level as RVD and Booker if not higher.

As for Triple H, yeah I know that on Smackdown he would hold down my favorite wrestler Eddie Guerrero, but I don't think it was a bad thing, it would be a nice change for those of us who watch RAW and SMACKDOWN, if I only got one or the other I'd probably have a different opinion.

On a side note, there is a poll on WWE on which new Raw superstar will have the most success and right now Shelton is winning, even beating out Edge. Shelton is definitely going to be big this year.

This makes me worry somewhat that the WWE doesn't have ironclad plans for the near future. Why make such a huge deal out of Triple H going to Smackdown on the big debut night of the draft, only to quietly retcon it on the barely-visited website?

Yeah, but Eddie's one of the only guys drawing at this point, so he doesn't need Triple H trying to interfere.

After watching RAW last night, and seeing the superstar reaction that John Cena got, I'm suprised they didn't move him over to RAW. I think he would have fit nicely. Oh well.
