I believe you've made a pretty non-intuitive "find your lat/lon" page. I had to do a lot of re-centering to get the exact values just right for me (the middle of one of our bizarre freeway interchanges)

Hey, thanks for the idea! At least this is one way I can get into the Stadium.

I love these things, even if it's generalized. I think it's neat to see the geographical diversity represented on the board. Hell, one of best kicks I got was from making a Tribe fanpage back in '95. I actually got feedback from a fan in Seattle during the ALCS. The world just gets smaller and smaller.

Ok, what do you recommend? You double click on the point you want as the center, and then read the lat and lon at the bottom of the page. I'm not sure how to do that more intuitively. Your thoughts?

I think it depends on the granularity and the fact that there's no visual feedback after you've clicked. I know nothing about how this works, so I don't know if this is doable, but could you place a pin where people click?

I dont know what everyone else is doing, but I think the key is you have to zoom all the way in to whatever landmark/intersection you want to claim as your "home" (I used a nearby shopping mall), and double-click on that. You cant just look at your state & try to guess how far away from the nearest major city your house is, that's how you end up on the freeway or in the middle of a river.

Or maybe something completely different is going on, in which case I have no idea what I'm talking about.

As of 1830 EDT there is no latitude/longitude underneath the map when I click on it to find where I live. But it saved and it's in the general vicinity. I'm interpreting this as a continuation of signs that I should have never gotten out of bed this morning. :)

OK, there are two maps. I'm thinking I should simplify this into one map The lat/long is on the map linked from the edit profile page.

Expect this to all be out of date tonight after I finish this.

Cool feature...although Texas is a big ass state, and so far there are only 2 markers.

Ok, I changed the heading at the top (you can now reach it from the map link) and tried to change the locate.htm page a little. It now puts a marker down when you double click the map.

I've also added more in depth instructions to that page. Let me know if it helped or hurt.

Thanks,

Aaron

Very bleeding edge guys, colour me impressed.
Had the no save lat/long info as well last night. Originally thought it may have had something to do with my negative latitude as part of some larger flat earth conspiracy. Turns out to be just a programming glitch so I've put the tin foil hat away.

FWIW I have selected the chicken take away near my work, as they do a particularly good hot chip. So if any W's happen to get themselves way way lost and end up here, well at least they can find quality hot chips.

Cheers

I can indeed confirm that I live inside Neyland Stadium. It's really not a bad deal, except when it rains.

Awesome new feature - I like it.

This one didn't have much to do with me. I just occasionally debug.

By the way, I believe accessing the map may have switched you into (or out of) dialup mode. Hopefully, that's fixed. ;-)

I also changed the name from "Map" to "The W...orld" because that's BRANDING, BABY

Yeah, sorry about the dialup mode thing. I used that page as a template for the new map page, and I apparently didn't remove the query to change your dialup mode.

Ugh.

I need to stop doing these changes at 1:00 am.
