I'm not sure if this is a great idea, but I wanted to try it out. To make this work, just update your latititude and longitude (not exactly, but pick somewhere kind of close to give people an idea of where you are - maybe a local shopping center or something?)
Note: Some people may not want to give out this much informationa about where they are. If that's the case, just put in any location for your city if you'd like. We're not looking to see your house -- but I would like to get an idea of which city you are in. Just pick a landmark in your town and find the latitude and longitude for it.
You can edit your profile here: http://the-w.com/editprofile.php and it should update the map immediately. If you need help finding your latitude and longitude, just click on the link from the edit profile page.
It's all built using the Google maps API and some scripting I set up in our database. Let me know if you have any problems with any of this.
Thanks! (PS- I don't live in the river south of Qualcomm stadium, but I'm pretty close to there. You don't need an exact location )

For some reason, though, my latitude and longitude won't save when I edit my profile. I've entered it twice but when I check my profile again it hasn't saved anything.

It is working now, please continue to input your information. So far we have 4 people plotted.

It's kind of neat to see geographic demographics for this bunch.
Any way to make the popups when you click on someone a standard size? No biggie...but a couple of those things were rather large.

Good idea. Maybe shrink people's avatars to the same size they're shrunk to in their posts?
Other than that, it's pretty neat
