The Pats sure gave them plenty of chances but let's face it - if you can't score a touchdown, you aren't gonna win. Patriots certainly look more and more mortal the closer we get to the end. Can they last one more game?

Also, what the hell was all that classical music crap CBS wanted us to sit through at the beginning of the game? Are they not aware that this is a show for MEN?

No one on that Chargers team outside of Vincent Jackson (who played his ass off today) was anywhere near 100 percent. You have to ask yourself now, if they had been, could they have actually turned those field goals into touchdowns? Chargers fans will be asking themselves that hypothetical for years to come.

Man, did LT look discouraged on that sideline or what? It's like he KNOWS this was a fluke and he's not getting this far again.

The true winner? Nate Kaeding. His playoff FG% went up 27 percent today. Yay.

The classical bit at the beginning actually got me really fired up for the game.

The Chargers' D did their job, but I can't understand why the offense imploded every time inside the red zone.

Not a very entertaining game.

Hats off to the Chargers. There was no way they were going to win, considering the condition they were in. Their chances increase only slightly if they were 100%.

They put up a great fight. The turnovers were there, capitalizing off of them wasn't. If NY goes to the bowl, I think it's a lock for NE to take it. If Green Bay goes, I don't know what to think.

I give Philip Rivers this - he played his ass off today. You can't beat the Patriots when you let then answer you field goals with touchdowns.

The Patriots seem to be uncanny at it - you score, they score. They did it to Jacksonville, then this week each team with three possessions with zero points, the Chargers got a FG on possession #4 (after Brady's interception) and the Pats answered with a TD. I was actually surprised they didn't go for the 4th down when Kelley Washington saved the punt, because the Chargers were coming off a FG, but they stopped the Chargers and scored on the next possession.

Holy fuck shit motherfucker shit. Read comics. Fuck shit shit fuck shit I sold out when I did my job. Fuck fuck fuck shit fuck. Sorry had to do it....

Pretty much says it right there, although I'd think it might still be a lock if Green Bay makes it. The Giants just won't have enough left in the tank, especially after having to go through the top two seeds just to get there.

As for the AFC, the Chargers did about as well as could be expected, but they had no shot with all those injuries. But still, if you get as deep into New England territory as San Diego did, and you get three interceptions off Brady, you'd better come away with at least one touchdown.

The only reason the Pats looked "mortal" is because Brady had his worst game of the year. The Pats defense played their best game in a long time.

Down 9, less than 10 minutes to go, 4th and 10 at the Patriots 36: Show some guts and go for it Norv. You were having enough trouble getting in the end zone when you had the ball inside the 10 on 3 separate occassions, did you think you would get 2 quality scoring chances with less than 7 minutes left? That is, assuming you stuffed the Patriots on 3 straight plays, which you falied to do anyway?
Brady usually doesn't have back-to-back clunkers, so that is a bad omen for the Super Bowl.

At that point in the game in that situation, for all intents you don't even have a punter. And that was all the Patriots needed. They've been saving Maroney for exactly these situations all year long and he came through huge as their closer today.

As the TMQ most likely wrote in his notebook: Game Over.

You have to go for it there. You have to.
