...on DVD.

For those who are waiting for it (or for those who don't want to import); I thought I saw an Amazon.com link to buy this somewhere but I don't have it on me right now. Has anyone seen the entire Confidential series? If so, is it worth watching?

Also, anyone watched the Children In Need special? BBC actually had it up on their site for some time but it's no longer available there. It didn't reveal much as it was a bridge between the last episode and the Christmas episode. Most of the special had Rose freaking out after discovering the Doctor has changed his appearance (i.e. regeneration).

I've seen some of it. If you're an avid Dr. Who fan (I'm not), of course it's a must see. I thought it was okay, but I don't know if I'd go out of my way to buy it on DVD.

I was a little mystified as to why they wouldn't show it on BBC America. They do entire evenings of re-runs for Benny Hill, so I'm sure they could make (or could have made) room for it...and the series has enough of a cult following to warrant putting it on there. I wonder now, with this announcement, if they assume they can make more money off selling the DVD to that same cult following if they don't air it on the network.

Here's (The W at Amazon) a link to Amazon, but they won't even accept pre-orders for the DVDs yet.-- of course there is this issue also:

yeah, I know; they also say this:

but I couldn't resist! ~8>)

Seriously, when you can preorder 'em this link will work and even garner theW a shiny penny!

I don't know how much of this is true or not, but I had read somewhere that BBC America isn't owned by the BBC themselves, but Discovery Networks. DN just licensed the BBC name and had to get the rights to the programs themselves. IIRC, some of the programming on BBC-A isn't from the BBC themselves but from other British networks so that channel isn't a mirror of the Great Britain BBCs.

Maybe the BBC is still persistent with getting an American broadcaster, but I sense that it will take a few more years before someone here picks it up.

I think it BBC America is indeed as you described it JALman. It's too bad that Scif-Fi didn't pick it up.
I hope BBC is shopping to other networks to get it on TV here in the States. It looks like a great quality program through and through.

I know the first 2 episodes were aired as a movie on CBC back in the spring. I enjoyed the heck out of it and was hoping they were going to show the entire season but alas...

I thought CBC was supposed to air the entire season-- was it just a one off special?

I think one of the most interesting things about the new series is that each show is 1 hour, as opposed to the 4 part 25 minute episodes. It seems that even though there is only sixty minutes, some of the episodes have been called the finest in Doctor Who history. I think the one episode I want to see the most is "Dalek". This is being touted as perhaps the best show ever.

Wow, I didn't think it was that bad. Its a rather depressing list considering Transformers: Revenge of the Falling and the Pirate sequel are now in the top 25.
