Okay, I've been trying to keep my excitement level down, but I really have to just emote here.
I am so ultra-hyped for this. I'm not sure whether to be worried or happy about the new seemingly harder edged Doctor's companion in Billie Piper. If they have her as a strong female side kick (Romano), I'll be happy. If they go with the ditzy sex appeal sidekick (Tegan), I will not be. However, this quote gives me hope: "They really are written as a team. They have level pegging," producer Russell T Davies tells the Manchester Evening News about the Doctor and Rose. "You couldn't have him as the dominant man and her as the humble assistant in this day and age."
The series will most likely kickoff in March of 2005 at the earliest. It will definitely be shown in England on BBC and in Canada on CBC. BBC America has expressed a desire to show it in the US, but nothing has been set.
Working episode titles and writers are as follows: episode 1 is Rose by Russell T. Davies; episode 2 is The End of the World by Davies; episode 3 is The Unquiet Dead by Mark Gatiss; episodes 4 and 5 are Aliens of London, Parts 1 & 2 by Davies; episode 6 is by Rob Shearman; episode 7 is The Long Game by Davies; episode 8 is by Paul Cornell; episodes 9 and 10 are The Empty Child by Steven Moffat; episode 11 is by Davies; and episodes 12 & 13 are The Parting of the Ways, Parts 1 & 2 by Davies. All of these are subject to change by season's start.
The Tardis will stay the same, both as a police box and as having the faulty chamelon chip, so it cannot change into any other shape.
Episodes will take place both on Earth and elsewhere in the Universe.
Of the villians from the old series, here are the verified returnees:
The Daleks are back. There are also rumours about legs and flying, which, though not completely confirmed, do seem to have some widespread support. I'm not really sure about this reworking, but I will save my full opinion until seeing the episodes. Rumours have the Daleks appearing in Episode 6.
The Autons will also definitely be returning. There are rumoured to be photos of them somewhere, but I can not find them.
Rumours have the Master and the Cybermen returning, but this has not been confirmed.
That's it as concerns updates. Now, onto other stuff to just increase your appetite for the new series:
Amazon has a whole bunch of cheap Who DVDs. Here are is the Tom Baker list with the rest on the left:
Here are some interview clips with Tom Baker, for those interested. He still seems like such an awesome guy. I hope rewatching all his shows doesn't spoil me for the new guy.
