On the plus side, hey, Nevin-free year for the Padres. ;-)
Wow am I ever glad ever glad he turned down the trade that would have brought him to the 'Nati. I just hope Ken Griffey's son continues his hot streak into the regular season. Thank you Phil Nevin- wherever you are.

Just read on Sportsline that the Pads and Yanks are talking about a Mondesi to SD trade. Surely now all of you Padre fans have to be happy. [sarcasm] We would sorely miss him in the Bronx, sniff sniff.[/sarcasm]

I want nothing to do with Mondesi. I would rather the Padres play Xavier Nady out in LF or Roberto Kelley than have to suffer with the brooding and declining Mondesi. Now, Carlos Beltran of KC would be a different story.

They wouldn't be the Cubs if they made smart or logical personnel decisions. But regardless, pending the hiring of a replacement, I have to say it's a net gain for Cubs fans, even though I agree with your sentiment here.
