Anyone else like this.

It`s on my to-get list.

But the album of the year came out last week, and it is Wilco`s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. :)

N.E.R.D. is the best album of the year. I think I mentioned that in the White Stripes thread I started. Interestingly, it made one of the NY Times pop music critic's ten best list for last year, as he had the original version. I'd like to track that down on audiogalaxy, or something, as I can't imagine it without a live band. Anyone heard anything from it?

They shelved it because they didn't like how it turned out. The video for "Lapdance" has the original song.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, I only have an MP3 of "Lapdance" off the original. But from the sounds of that, and the new "Rock Star", both versions woulda been album of the year candidates, whenever they came out.

I remember the video, and my friend has the mp3, but he found an mp3 of one of the other tracks. I can't remember which one, but it is the original version, and also isn't very good.

I am hyped to get the new Wilco, but it will have a lot to do in order to top the ...Trail of Dead album for best of 2002 so far. Though actually the best album released this year is Edson "For Strength" but since no one else here will have heard it, no point fighting much for it
And it will all become moot very soon when the Flaming Lips unleahs "Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots" upon our unsuspecting world this summer.

The Flaming Lips are coming out with a new album this summer? Tremendous. Post something here when it comes out, so I don't forget.

As for ...Trail of Dead: Are you talking about Source Codes and Tags? I'm not that familiar with the band, but my friend was playing that album while we drove home from school last week, and damned if it isn't good music. But, more than that, a really interesting (and terribly sad) concept.

And Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is awesome. It's nothing that really hits you over the head, but I've been listening to it non-stop for two days and my appreciation for it has only grown. It reminds me of OK Computer, the way the entire album flows.

Palpatine: The new Flaming Lips album looks like an early summer release. Then after that there's rumblings of a package tour including the Lips, Cake, Modest Mouse, De La Soul, and who knows who else. First seen by me on Pitchfork

Yeah, you really can't go wrong with ...Trail of Dead. I remember their appearance on MuchMusic... anyone who starts off a show with "Fish Heads" and a David Lee Roth video, then manages to throw in, I believe, NoMeansNo, among others... they're already ahead of the game. ;)

If you don't mind buying "near mint," Reckless Records Chicago (via GEMM - I may or may not get a referral (kzim.gemm.com) ) is offering a copy for $67.54 + shipping - I've ordered from them before and highly recommend them.
