No team snatches defeat from the jaws of victory as often as Michigan State. You knew the implosion was coming throughout the Notre Dame game, but, it still was impressive to have a 16 point lead and 1st and 10 inside the Notre Dame 30 with about 10 minutes to go and end up with 3rd and 42. Then, just when they might stabilize things, pass interference on 2nd and 27 for Notre Dame just let the avalanche begin. TD, fumble, TD, pick 6, another interception later, and I don't have to tear up the Notre Dame winning the BCS Championship ticket from the Venetian yet. Still a long shot, but, hope exists with only 1 loss, no hope with 2. Of course, it would be nice if the Notre Dame offense could show up in the 1st quarter one of these games.
Speaking of consistent incompetence, Boston Catholic College strikes again by losing to a team they should beat. Up 5, 1:30 left at the NC State 25, fumbled snap, stuffed on 4th down, then get beat by a bomb with 8 seconds to go. That is why Boston College will never be a big time program.
Are there more missed extra points this year than ever before? Football is a money maker, soccer isn't. Steal a soccer player if you are Notre Dame, BC, Alabama, Florida, etc.
Ohio State better get things in gear quickly. They've struggled offensively in the 1st half in 3 of 4 games.
When the hell did Kansas start wearing red jerseys? You are Kansas, wear blue. Confused me every time I flipped to that game.
Nice job by UCLA choking away a 16 point lead. Maybe they will do the opposite of last year, and score early and blow games, rather than digging deep holes and finding miraculous ways out of them, until the Arizona and USC massacres.
Georgia is very lucky to still be breathing in the national title picture.

Wow, thanks redsoxnation. It's 1:45 AM as I type this and I didn't even know the result of the Notre Dame-Michigan State game because I turned it off assuming Michigan State was going to win. And you're totally right about kickers. I don't understand how my Gators have their choice of any QB and WRs they want, but they can't get a guy to kick extra points? Do they just not even try and give the job to whoever shows up? Or do kickers want to go to schools where they aren't just the guy who adds the extra point but will get lots of field goals? We've had bad kickers bite us on the ass before. We lost to Tennessee one year on a field goal and in '99 we lost to Alabama because our kicker missed an extra point, but there was a penalty, then he missed AGAIN. This year we missed two field goals in a very close Tennessee game and had two extra points blocked today. We got Tebow, we got Harvin, please Urban Meyer just go out and recruit the best kicker in the country just once.

It was actually a pretty good day of football despite it looking very week on paper, especially after last week's great schedule. Ohio State, USC, West Virginia, Florida, Michigan, Texas Louisville, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, Alabama, and Iowa all had close games for at least a half, even longer in most of them. Maybe all the close games gives a little bit of hope to teams with one loss because anyone can be beat.

I'm hoping that Georiga and Alabama's games this week means they aren't as good as everyone thinks and Florida's schedule is a little bit easier, but somehow I doubt it. Alabama, LSU, Auburn and Georgia in the next four games is just brutal. I'm not REAL worried about Alabama and Georgia, I just hope we can get through LSU and Auburn with one loss and get a rematch at the one that beats us in the SEC Championship.

As a lifelong FSU fan can I just say, SHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUP! You have NOTHING to be complaining about comparitivly. Spare me.

Once, ONCE Bobby went out and got the absolute top kicker in the nation(Scott Bently). His freshman season FSU won the national championship, though I will say he wasn't exactly a stud by the time he was done. Better than what we had though.

I honestly can't believe Michigan State blew that. And by all accounts, that's what they did. They simply had poor coaching and didn't sit on the lead. Idiots.

Georgia....well you're allowed one of these a year and you can still be an elite team. Two and you're just not that good. We'll see.

Rutgers and Missouri in the top 25? Something very fishy is going on here.

Damn redsox, didn't you see anything good happen on Saturday?

I happened to think the Notre Dame/Michigan State game was great, probably on instant classic to quote whoever was commentating.

The Buckeyes are taking it though.

Trust me, the Notre Dame comeback was good to see on several levels. However, Michigan State lost that game more than Notre Dame won it. And, seeing Boston College pull a choke job is always a good thing to me.
If they get through this week Ohio State should be in the clear, at least until the Michigan game. My faith in Michigan State having quit on the season by the time they face the Buckeyes is strong. However, if the offense doesn't show up until the second half they are going to be in trouble. It is not a home game, like the Cinci and Penn State games, and they are not playing an untested QB like the Texas game. Get down early at Iowa and it could be a difficult night, and Nugent isn't around to save them like he was in 2002.

You summed up the exact reason I'm nervous about Saturday night. The only thing that keeps me sane is if they hit some of theose home run passes to Ginn or Gonzales, they can make up some points in a hurry if needed.

I've finally been able to see a handful of games and I must echo the hate for the new time rules.

The clock should stop after every change of possession. Period. If they want to speed up the game, eliminate the clock stop after a 1st down.
