Anyone else pick this up yet?

I'm painfully behind on deadline for the magazine, yet I couldn't stop myself from 1) buying it yesterday and 2) playing at least one game last night.

(For the record, I successfully spanked those lame-ass Boilermakers to win the Old Oaken Bucket for my alma mater.)

I cannot wait to do create-a-school.

I got it Tuesday night. I have never wanted to pass on going to a Mariners game more than the one I actually ended up going to Wednesday night.

Last night I won Paul Bunyan's Axe with a huge 34-31 OT comeback win with Minnesota over Wisconsin. I'd played with the Badgers the first game I tried and lost. The computer makes me feel like a total loser by busting out an 80-yard Anthony Davis touchdown run on me on the game's first play, then on Davis' second carry he went 58 yards to the house. Two carries, 138 yards, 2 TDs. I don't think the computer ever did *that* to me before. Plus on the fist play the QB made a late, late pitch on the option. I think he was ten yards past the line of scrimmage when he did it. I had only had human opponents to that to me before. Awesome. Luckily I scored 3 fourth-quarter touchdowns to come back from a 31-10 deficit.

Can you tell if I'm fired up about this game?

The coolest unexpected thing was that after I input the Wisconsin QB's name (Bollinger) the announcers recognized it. They did that on the previous games but I do't think they dod it with more obscure names like "Bollinger". I also like the adjustable scheduling in Dynasty mode. There was nothing worse in NCAA2002 than playing the 2004 Huskies against Bowling Green and three other non-conference cupcakes, especially when they would never play them in real life.

I played my first Dynasty game today.

My created team (PTI University, coached by Mr Tony) squeaked out a win versus its rival, the Terps.

Despite having an academic team, I managed to intercept 5 passes, thank to knocking UMD's QB out in the first half.

And my star RB, Wilbon, had 165 yards rushing and 2 TDs.

Hey, Brick, nice avater. I love those things...(sighs) Seriously, the first time that trash opened, I was like, why's this guy got a melting ice cream cone in his avater? Sicko.

Deion, I'm glad you finally switched YOUR avatar. It was making the page load slowly. I guess I do have a slow computer though.

I actually revamped my "PTI" team.

QB -- Mr. Tony
RB -- John Jr Feinstein
MLB -- Wilbon (of course wearing 51)
FB -- Bill Conlin
K -- Mike La-puca
WRs -- Bob Ryan, Randy Galloway, Norman Chad
NT -- Stephen Hunter

I got it for XBox. I played the heck out of 2002 on the PS2. Running the ball is more fun this year. The spin move, juke, and stiff arm are really effective. I won the National Title with Ohio State in year one of the dynasty on the All American setting. I was going to move it up to Heisman but I lost 23-20 to Oklahoma in OT, in the first game of year two.

It annoys me that the computer seems to know what play i pick. It may just be on the higher settings, but they are almost robotic. I like to line up single back, two tight end, two wideout. When I call a run off tackle to the right, the computer D moves thier linebackers and line that way every time. If I flip the play at the line, no one on my side of the ball moves, but sure enought the computer D shifts their line and linebackers all the way to the left. It's not cool. Other than that, great game.

Yeah, I hate that crap too, but hey, it makes it more challenging and since I won 101 straight games with Central Florida on 2002, I'm all for challenges. I'm 7-3 with Ohio State and/or Eastern State (my COS). My only problem is that I can't get myself to start my Ohio State dynasty, which is when I get real serious, until I've got all the damn player names in. I know I'm a moron for this and yet I can't help it. I almost wish you could only put them on a few teams like the ol' PS1 versions so I wouldn't worry about it. Eh, such is development.

I rented it Friday night. I started out with FSU, and I was killing everyone in sight, so I decided to delete that dynasty, and create UNCW, even though they don't really have a football team. I made them a little piece of crap 1 star academic school. I put them in the ACC, and took Clemson out. Went 5-7 my first year in dynasty, and increased the school prestige to 2 stars. Started out my second year with a 42-0 destruction of Ball State, so I could immediatley tell that this team was better. Ended up with a record of 8-3, and a 5-3 conference record. Was tied with NC State and Maryland for second in the ACC, but the game tiebreakers decided I would be fourth. I played Iowa State in the Tangerine Bowl, and beat them 27-21. Kurt Duncan, my QB, had a great year with 20 TDs and only 4 INTs. Got the school prestige up to 3 stars, and that's where I stand now. However, assuming I don't get fired(I've got to somehow beat FSU for the ACC title) my offense is going to be completely foreign next year. Duncan, Newton(starting HB), Beck(starting FB), and Carter(#1 WR) are all seniors this year.

I LOVE the Rivalry Mode on this thing. On NCAA 2002 I don't think I played one game where I wasn't Washington. I've played nothing but rivalry games (in between inputting player's names in, because I am that DORKY) and I've got 9 trophies so far in 14 games. My only real problem was trying to win the Golden Boot...I lost on a last-second TD playing as LSU, then lost on a last-minute FG playing as Arkansas - gah! It was just a total jinx by my brother-in-law, who commented that I was playing too easy of a level when I spanked Virginia with Virginia Tech. Last night I won the Old Oaken Bucket with Minnesota, with their second-string QB (Benji Kamrath, which there is NO WAY I would know if I hadn't input the whole team in right before the game) throwing for over 300 yards after the starter got hurt in the first quarter.

Does anyone know if you can win more rivalry trophies than the 23 that are in the Trophy Room? There sure are a lot more games that have a trophy at stake. Minnesota has four different games with trophies alone.

If Madden can get in? Really? Madden is an NFL icon, not just for coaching, but for his broadcasting and the fact that 'Madden' basically defines the football gaming industry. I thought he was in already, frankly.
