I picked this up for the PS2 yesterday, and I'm pretty darned impressed with the changes they made to Dynasty mode and the gameplay. Expanded Dynasty mode features include:

- a deep "Summer Training" drill-set, which is basically the same as the Madden mini-game, but I think there were 15 different drills so you can really pump a lot of guys' attributes up. The DB drills are pretty diabolical.

- New and improved recruiting, including having recruits request promises like wearing a certain jersey number or playing a certain position before they commit. I only played one game of my dynasty last night but this holds some nice promise.

- The biggest gameplay improvement I've used is that you can set a zone at the first down line by assigning hot routes to defensive players, for better first down-prevention.

The biggest disappointment for me was that I read somewhere that they reworked the Campus Legend mode so you didn't start as a freshman and you had to work your way into the line-up, and that you could simulate the plays that you were not personally involved in, but evidently that is only in the next-gen version. Dammit.

Anyone else pick this up yesterday? How about the PS3 or 36t0 version?

I picked up the PS2 version yesterday as well (on sale for $39.99 at Fry's, in case anyone else is planning on picking it up). It's the first NCAA game I've bought since the 2005 version as they finally made enough improvements to make it worthwhile (IMHO, obviously. The first down prevention works well, except that my defenders had trouble tackling. The AI seems much, much better, but again I'm not comparing the game to last year's, so your mileage may vary.

I promptly set up my dynasty but only had time to play one game after I had done the drills, the recruiting stuff, set up my playbook, and the other stuff necessary to get my team ready for the season. But, I did like the drills and the pre/in-season recruiting. I'm curious to see how my season performance changes the recruits' attitudes. I'm playing as Baylor, and I currently have some recruits interested that you wouldn't think would be interested in Baylor (as in a 5* and a few 4* players listing me as their top choice). Hopefully they'll respond to the opportunity for immediate playing time! (and, I do mean IMMEDIATE as my team needs all kinds of help)

First review I read, IGN, said the Xbox and PS2 versions were way too similar to last years in how they play. If the same holds for the 360 version I'm not sure I'll get it. I could care less about recruiting, I just want to play football so it's not worth my time for those changes.

I played the NCAA 08 demo on the 360 and I was VERY disappointed.

Pro:
You can tell right off the bat that it is 60 FPS. The animations were VERY smooth, especially since I was just done playing 07.

Cons:
Took me forever to figure out how to navigate the very unique "menu" where every "screen" was "can not do this in demo."

The graphics were HORRIBLE. While it was smooth, it was smooth crap. The playcalling screen and graphics reminded me more of NCAA 1988 than NCAA 2008. USC's staidum looked very poorly lit and the players looked VERY pale.

Please tell me people that the retail version is alot better than the demo. I played three downs and deleted it.

Haven't played the demo, but the graphics on the real version are pretty darn good. A huge step up from last year's game to be sure.

That is a huge relief because you really need to play the demo, even for 5 mins. It's about 100 steps back and I can't imagine why it was released in that condition.
