...so sayeth IGN (sports.ign.com)

Of course, the keyword in all of this is:

Assuming that the league continues to spurn EA's advances, this is a good move by the NBA, I think. As alluded to in the link, there are a number of properties with an NBA license (NBA Street, Live, ESPN, Ballers...etc.). An exclusive deal with EA could hurt the NBA's bottom line.

Of course, for the OMG EA IS TRYING TO TAKE OVER TEH WORLDZ!!!11!!! conspiracy folk, there is the matter of EA buying 20% of UBIsoft, who was publishing a And 1 video game to go head to head with EA's NBA Street.

The saga continues...

I was kidding about that whole "Fire Jim Tressel" thing. Really. I was.

If you can't beat them join them? or in EA's case buy them. I was annoyed when EA got exclusive NFL rights, and glad they didnt get the NBA and we all know they are trying to get the MLB as well.

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't NBA Street, NBA Live, and NBA Ballers all EA products? I don't think that many important franchises would be lost (off the top of my head, just the ESPN/2k series).

NBA Ballers is Midway. NBA Street and NBA Live are both EA. The best game of the bunch is the ESPN one, in my opinion.

Willful ignorance of science is not commendable. Refusing to learn the difference between a credible source and a shill is criminally stupid.

My friends love Inside Drive to death, which is a Microsoft production.

Thank God they won't be able to corner the market on all of the sports video games. It really sucks that a competitor puts out a product of similar quality to their own but thirty dollars cheaper and so EA just runs ans tries to (essentially) out of the sports game business. Boo! Hiss!

Don't blame EA...they're just doing what many businesses would do when confronted with legit competition. If you wanna blame anyone, blame the ESPN title, for not only cutting the price in half, but putting out a far superior product, IMO. If they just tried to stay inches ahead of EA instead of leaping miles, EA wouldn't be pulling this desperation act.

But yeah, thank god NBA Live won't be the only game with the NBA license. That would be enough to drive me away from bball video games.

It's funny, the only reason I ever gave NBA Live a shot is because it's an EA title (that was Live 2003). Once I realized that basically every other basketball game on the market was better, that's where I've stayed. Ballers, Street, 2k, those games are money.

http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/041103/phw010_1.html There was a lot of buzz earlier about this being a vaporware system. Now that Sun has come onboard, I wonder if this will convince anyone that this is a real console.
