I just bought NBA Jam, and holy CRAP Wii are you stupid. NBA Jam is a classic three button game; the Wii has three major buttons and a fourth (the C) when needed.
Here's the buttons: -Z is turbo (good, makes sense, it's intuitive) -A is pass (we're rocking now) -C is for pump-faking (a bit unccessary, but that's the luxory of the fourth button) -B is for spinning & doing a crossover (wait, what? that's unnessary AND a waste of a major button!)
Which means that shooting and jumping is, of course: -Flick Wii remote up, then forward
Goddamnit. The Wii always does this. It always freaking over thinks, or thinks that we are so fascinated with Wii motion that we'll go crazy if there isn't any in a game, or thinks that the motion control is so perfect that nothing can possibly go wrong.
I haven't played this yet, but I've played basketball on the Wii Sports Resort. A) It's terrible. B) It's got the Wii Motion Plus plug-in, which this doesn't.
So either suck it up and deal with the Wii motion for the most important part of the game, or buy 4 Classic Controllers.
Goddamnit Wii.

So now I've played it, and there's no option to change controls, no option to turn on Tag Team mode, no option to turn on/off computer assistance. I am NOT impressed.

I don't share your concerns/gripes about the motion controls (I thought basketball in Wii Sports Resort was just fine) but no option to turn on Tag Team mode = no NBA Jam for StingArmy. The. End.
I have since found that you can play with no motion controls & no classic controller if you play with only the Wiimote (i.e., sideways), but man does your left hand's finger hate you after a game of turboing like mad.
